Coolent leaking (dripping out pretty good ) behind the motor on the ground after filling up to the jug and motor off. Looking under the motor from the front end I see a rubber hose connected to what looks like a flat metal line running to the same area of the leak. Antbody have any ideas??

I don't know the exact "official " name for it, but the flat metal pipe is used to transfer coolant from one location under the engine to another destination. Being metal, they do rust and leak. You need to get the car on ramps or a lift and get an exact visual on the leak itself to determine if that pipe is leaking. As far as I know, it's a dealer item or a junkyard part. (not enough demand for the aftermarket to make or sell them.)

It could be the freeze plugs. that can be expensive.

I assume the flat metal line runs under the oil pan. Laying under car, firewall side of engine, close to front of engine (fan belts), the water pump is located almost directly above the flat pipe. There should be another hose at the othe end of the pipe make sure the water isn't leaking from there first. I have changed the water pump on mine. It is time consuming and tight quarters being the pump is driven by the timing chain (not belt). If it is the pump, you'll have to disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold, remove the timing chain cover (may require new gasket) to remove water pump. A Chilton's repair manual will help. This is for 2.4L engine.
