I shook as many connectors that i could find, pulled the instrument panel and checked and cleaned the console connector, have good ground and 12volt source. After first insident, all gauges came back on, but they're off again. please help. I also have a question about a wire that holds the console to the steering column. can i pull it out, if so how.
I suspect that there is a cracked circuit board.
The cracks are usually hair-line thin and almost invisible.
Pull the panel again and carefully examine for crack especially near connector areas. If you're lucky, you might find one. if you're really lucky, you might then be able to repair it by carefully (very) removing the photo resist covering the conductive path, and then soldering over it with a very fine copper wire. (You need to be very proficient at soldering to do this and must use a fine iron with rosin core flux.)
If at a connector solder point, maybe just re-soldering will work especially where there is a substantial amount of metal involved..These tend to have "cold" solder joints where they were not hot enough for good bonding of the solder when manufactured.
If not, a replacement is needed.
Good Luck

Do you have fuel? You might want to check the fuel pump fuse and see if it took a hit!
You could also spray a little starting fluid into the intake while cranking and see if it sputters.
Good luck and be careful.

The codes:--
920 The cluster is not receiving a vehicle speed message from the PCM.1. Check the PCM software level and reflash if required.
2. Use a DRB scan tool to verify that the vehicle speed message is being sent by the PCM.
----------------921 The cluster is not receiving a distance pulse message from the PCM.1. Check the PCM software level and reflash if required.
2. Use a DRB scan tool to verify that the distance pulse message is being sent by the PCM.
----------999 An error has been discovered.1. Record the failure message.
2. Depress the trip odometer reset button to continue the Self-Diagnostic Test.-----------Code 999 is nothing to worry, but code 920 and 921.This both codes indicates problem with communication of instrument cluster and pcm( also known as cars computer).-------If you have tried cleaning the instrument cluster board and re-flashing cpu, then its most probably faulty computer( cpu/ pcm).It has to be replaced.------------Get both the instrument cluster board and pcm bench tested at the car repair site. And replace which ever tests faulty. The problem is between any of the two.---------This will help, thanks.Helpmech.
