The engine coolant temperature sensor is located on the driver side of the engine near the rear of the engine compartment
SOURCE: How do you change a starter on 2002 cadillac
On older Cads with the Northstar engine the starter is in the intake manifold area. I don't know about a 2002 but I would assume its there also. It cranks the engine from above not below.
SOURCE: how to change oil on a 2001 cadillac deville
oil plug is straight back from the center of the car...go to auto parts store and get a filter and 8 quarts of 5w30, the car will take all of the oil. Use a 9/16 socket to avoid rounding the plug...remember you have to jack from either side of the plug...you cannot jack straight on other wise the plug is hard to get to...the best spot to jack is driver's side right by where the suspension meets the frame there is a nice flat straight piece of frame to lift from
SOURCE: HOW DO YOU CAHNGE THE THERMOSTAT ON 2002 CADILLAC DEVILLE
The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line. It's job is to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage. The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side to near the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.
