1998 Ford Contour ABS light and one wheel partially braking

2000 ford contour when driving my brake light and abs light comes on then my car just dies 1998 Ford Contour - after stopping quickly in a snowstorm in VA, the ABS light came on and didn't go out. It feels like one wheel has the brake 50% engaged. Could this be a sensor?

1998 Ford Contour. Abs Light was on & driving I'd hit the gas and the car would put... sometimes id be doing like 55 and hit the gas some more and it would start slowing down instead.. then my brakes locked up and now i have no brakes at all! The pads and shoes are fine...A mechanic is trying to fix it the car now, They alreday replace the booster but still nothing so now they're lookin at the abs pump, that part is hard to find.. could this be the problem tho??

Abs light stays on what does that mean

One of your wheels has the bearing or the caliper going out. On my truck it is the bearing. You can tell if it is the bearing by listening for a grinding when you brake. Turning right it is your left side. Turning left it is your right side.

Abs light stays on what does mean?

ABS stands for Anti-lock Braking System. If this light is flashing you should have the system checked ASAP to be safe.
and if you need a diagnostic tool you can click here: diyobd2.fr
there are a lot of good tools there and the web is safe

1998 Contour, clicking noise coming from front wheel on drivers side as I'm driving(it's a consistent click)

With out hearing the noise it is hard to say but it could be a wheel bearing but most of the time a bearing will hum, this could be a bad cv axle or a brake brake hitting the bracket, try to drive the car and hit the brake a little and see if the clicking goes away, if it does then i would say it is in the brakes. if it does not then have the cv axle checked.

Abs light is on and brake light just come on. brake fluid is full and brakes seem ok

Most commonly a broken ABS sensor wire at one of the wheels. Can you test the car somewhere where you can invoke the ABS? The sensors can fail as well although it's the wire more likely.

1998 FORD CONTOUR,ROUGH GETTING IT TO START, BUT DOES, SOUNDS SEMI-NORMAL ONCE IT IS GOING, DRIVES IN REVERSE NORMAL, BUT AS SOON AS IT IS PUT INTO A FORWARD GEAR (D,1,2) CAR DIES INSTANTLY, LIKE SOMEONE...

this sounds like a brake issue and usually the emergency brake..lift rear of car to see if the wheels will turn if one does turn .remove tire and loosen brake bleeder screw to see if you can release brake pressure.after that tighten bleeder screw and remove brake drum.if the wheel has disc brakes you will need to remove emergency brake cable if it is too tight to remove you need a new one anyway so take a hack saw and cut the cable at the brake unit

Abs is still on. i have new pads and master cylinder.

The ABS system is separate from the normal braking system (pads, rotors, master cylinder, etc.). It's essentially a computer that pumps the brakes during heavy braking to prevent, or at least reduce the possibility of a skid. The ABS system needs to be tested and repaired by a qualified mechanic.

How to turn off abs lighton 1998 ford contour

You can't unless you take the light out of the dash. One of your ABS sensors are bad located on the backside of each wheel.

2000 ford contour when driving my brake light and abs light comes on then my car just dies

The first to check is the brackfluid level, its possible that the brackfluid is low, and some car's have a cut-out unit for savety.
If that is not the problem, try to remove the light units at the back of the car. It could be a wire that short out to earth (the body of the car.) Check all the wires to see if there's not one that make a short.
