2003 Escapade by Jayco Class C Motorhome. The display for emergency brake light stays on regardless if the brake is actually on or off. Please advise.

The display for the emergency brake light will not go off. It displays "BRAKE" regardless of having the emergency brake depressed or not.

Pull up on the emergency brake pedal with your hand to see if the light will go off. If it will. there is a slack adjustment for the cable going back to the rear brakes. If it won't then the switch is bad or out of adjustment. It's located on the emergency brake pedal

SOURCE: changing emergency flasher switch

Disconnect the battery for 1 hour before you start and the air bag will be safe, be very careful when removing it, they are still an explosive device.

SOURCE: 1991 honda civic brake light stays on need to push brake pedal to

Sounds like you might have a caliper that is stuck and is not fully disengaging. If it is in the rear then you may have a bad rear caliper. Twoo things you can try. One is to crawl under the ca and adjust the tension two nuts on the emergency brake line. If that does not resolve the problem then remove the back tire and try to spin the drum or rotor whichever you may have. If it does not spin then try adjusting the e brake cable more if it still does not respond then you need to do a brake rebuild. Also does it pull while it is dragging? If it is then you will need to rebuild the brakes no matter what.

SOURCE: emergency brake pedal will not stay down when i press it.

The parking brake actuator (the mechanism you press with your foot) works like a ratchet wrench. The pedal has a cresent shaped plate with teeth on it. It pivots on a mounting plate. There is a pawl with a small spring also on the backing plate. This pawl engages the teeth on the pedal assembly to hold the brake engaged (against the large return spring).
Stick your head under the dash and look carefully at the parking brake actuator mechanism. See why the pawl is not engaging the teeth on the pedal assembly. Most likely causes are that the release mechanism is jammed "on" or that the light spring which attaches to the pawl is missing (usually from being kicked by some one with large feet) View this mechanism on another GM vehicle with the same style parking brake if you suspect that parts are missing.

SOURCE: cant depress brake caliper to replace pads

disc brakes on the rear of a vehicle have a screw out mechanism that attaches to the ebrake . this means that you must turn the caliper piston to recess into the cylinder.
open the bleed screw to make it move eazier.

Testimonial: "thanks for "bleed valve" tip. I had to take the whole caliper off due to debris in the chamber, the brakes have not been maintained prior to me."

My emergency brake light has come on and stays on along with the little circle that looks like there is water or something on it in the message display...they both come on at the same time when starting...

I'd probably safely raise and support the rear of vehicle, make sure rear wheels turn freely, no braking action unless brakes are applied. You could raise one wheel at a time.
Check the emergency brake release mechanism, the switch and wiring circuit?
My main concern is your not driving down the road with braking action ongoing w/o brakes being applied.
My ex drove 50 miles one time with e-brake not fully released, the brakes were smoking like crazy when she got home. Glad she got home ok. I'm glad it didn't catch fire.

I have a 1988 Coachman Motorhome with a Ford E350 460 v8. My problem is the Emergency brake indicator light on the instrument panel stays lit. I used it last week and had no problems until I moved it into...

Pull release handle and lift up on pedal at same time, light will probably go out. Usually just slack in cable that needs to be checked and adjusted.

Emergency brake light stays on on my 03 tahoe

I have an '03 Chevy Tahoe and I had a similar problem. I discovered that there is a bare copper striking plate or tab that the medal emergency parking brake pedal touches when the emergency brake is set. It turns on the idiot brake light in the dash. It had broken off and the light stayed on all the time with the say issue of chiming whenever the vehicle is in motion. You or the dealership must replace that striker plate to fix the problem.
