yes, this is VERY IMPORTANT, this is an interference engine, meaning the valves and the piston cannot be in the same place at the same time,or it will bend the valves.then you are looking at a major repair job, think or it as insurance on your engine. please rate my fix as i strive to be the best, questions, get back to me

SOURCE: Cam belt change on a kia sedona recommended milage

The recommended interval for changing the timing belt is in the owner's manual. Generally, this is every 60,000 miles.

Charlie

P.S. I found the data on the internet and, it is indeed 60,000 miles.

My 2007 Kia Rio is ten years old and has only 25,000 miles on it. Is it time to change the timing belt based on age, not mileage

Kia recommends ( california) checking at 60,000miles and 90,000miles and changing at 105,000miles
all other states and up to 2009 kia recommends replacement every 60,000miles
models from 2010 recommends every 60,000 miles or 72 months which ever occurs first
the timing belt is subject to dust ,age , grime and oil from cam, crank and hydraulic tension leaks so It would be advisable to consider changing it
rubber ages and cracks and a check by an accredited service shop would be a prudent move and if it is recommended to change the belt consider the advice

Icant get my 2001 kia rio in time after changing my timing belt

Your going to have to take the belt back off and line up your marks. The crank, oil pump, cams, etc. all have marks that need aligned with marks on the block. If they are not all lined up you will never get it timed any other way. Also I hope you made sure to block the cams when you removed the belt so they didnt turn on their own. I hope I could be of some help. Good luck

Does a kia rio diesel 56 plate need the timing belt changing or has it got a chain

The engine which is made by Mercedes is not belt driven, it has a timing chain, timing chains never need to be replaced unless they fail or the engine is being rebuilt.

I changed my kia rio timing belt and lined everything up perfectly but now the timing is off slightly how do i change the timing?

no you didnt line every thing up perfectly.one of the cams turned on you or you had the belt slack in btween the cams or on the side of the engine that the tensioner is NOT on. you will have to redo. you have to instal a tool to lock the 2 cams together to prevent turning on thier own.they dont like to stay were you have to have them

I want to change the timing belt on my 2003 Kia Rio Cinco but I can't find any info. I hate to start the project without some basic guidelines from someone that has done the job. I'm an experienced auto...

If it is the single overhead cam engine,it's pretty straight forward-Crank-tensioner- cam.The tensioner is a simple slide-to-tension type. You will need to take off the top engine mount for access(i just supported the engine with a jack)If it's a twin cam?Sorry don't know as mine is single cam.(obviously all air con belts, altenator belt etc have to be removed first)
