2004 chrysler t/c wont start in extreme cold weather. will turn over but sputters.

Car runs fine in regular weather. But if it gets near or below zero the car wont start. It will sputter but will not fire. if you put the car inside the garage and let it warm up, then clean the plugs, it will start. But if you set it back outside over a long period, it wont start again.

Did you try holding the gas pedal to the floor when starting ? It's getting too much fuel or not enough . Hooking up a scanner that can view sensor data parameters should be done to see which sensor is out of range . Coolant temp sensor possibly .

SOURCE: Hard start when cold, running rich, poor fuel economy

Chrysler has a bulletin out for a simular condititon that involves replacing the pcm. Heres the bulletin number 18-005-04. This is only 1 possible cause , Fuel pressure, coolant temp sensor, thottle position sensor all can cause like problems. Seeing sensor values and fuel adaptives with a scan tool helps pin point problems.

Try changing your fuel filter and checking your fuel pressure. Can always try runiing injecter cleaner after new fuel filter put in. Good luck

SOURCE: I have a 1999 chrysler concorde lxi 3.2 engine.

This could be leaking fuel injectors, a stuck Fuel Pump relay, and/or faulty fuel pressure regulator. Have you had any of these items checked and/or replaced? If not, it may be time to replace them. Also, check your fuel filter. If it hasn't been replaced in the last year, replace it.

2004 chrysler pacifica will not start when outside tempeture is below 20%

Take vehicle to Autozone or Advane Auto and have the charging system checked for free. Batteries have 2 capacities. CA, cranking amps, warm weather and CCA, cold cranking amps, cold weather. Suspect new battery required.

Turning over hard in extreme cold weather

Could you be using the wrong grade oil for your weather conditions? If not, likely bad starter motor, battery cables or grounds.

Your battery is probably dead, cold weather kills auto batterys, also may not be enough Cold Cranking Amps for this type of weather ?

When i try to start , it will only crank for a second and then stop, battery is fine . its very cold today, could it be the temperature ?

Cold can definitely be the culprit. When you say the battery is "good", what are you basing that on ? And most people in the northern climates know that they need a really high cranking amp battery to be able to perform well on cold mornings. If you have a "cheap" battery, or got your car from a southern area, chances are that your battery has low cranking amps, and won't start your car in extreme cold (or extreme heat). See how many "cold cranking amps" or CCA your battery is rated at. It should be displayed on the top of the battery. If its low (300-500) that's probably your problem. If it's high, (800 & up) and your battery is actually reading 12 volts, your problem is likely somewhere else. Also the larger motor you have, the more CCA you need. Example, a small 4 cylinder escort may get by fine with a 500 CCA battery in cold weather, but a big V8 in a large truck may not turn over with a 500 CCA battery in below zero weather. Here is a good article to read. Car Battery Know How Cold Cranking Amps and Reserve Capacity

It could be moisture yes, could be electrical if the wires and plugs are older they will crack and in humid or rainy weather they would be worse-or when they are cold.

Why does my 1998 sebring idle fine but sputter badly under load.

Does it use spark plug wires or individual ignition coils for the each plug?. My 98 intrepid uses coils and occasionally I have to change them out cause it would start to miss when normal temperature was achieved. If it uses wires, try replacing them, along with the spark plugs.

I have a 1999 Chrysler Cirrus. I drove it yesterday with no problems at all. I go to start my car this morning and it wont start. Its turns over just fine it dont even sound like there is a problem but...

try the spare key in case its the chip in the key playing up for whatever reason if spare key doesnt work then check to see if the immobilisor light is on ,Now also of course if the temperature is too cold what can happen in extreme circumstances is a micro chip malfunction where they fail in the cold and if this is the case then push car into teh garage and let it warm up gently and it should start ,been getting this a lot with other things as well because of the cold and cheap chinese micro chips so your not the only one. Also keep car keys away from any electro magnetic source like tv screens and body scanners magnets and most of all a tesla induction battery charger ,be surprised how many people try to recharge their remote car keys on o0ne of these type of charger .

Fuel problem with 03 alero.......Sputtered, died, now wont stop

I am having the same exact issue right now with my 01 Alero. Been having electrical issues with lights coming on and off. ABS was kicking on a few times even. It started sputtering like it was running out of gas, thought that might have been the case. But after I put gas in it it still didn't start. Now it turns over but nothing. What ended up being wrong with yours?

Make sure you have good clean connections from battery to starter and ground. If all okay, you may want to have a starter draw test performed.
