My '88 F150 will run on the rear tank with the slector on the fwd tank no fuel is taken from the fwd tank.If the rear pump will not shut off the front pump can'nt engage. Is that correct? If so how do I fix it?
When switch is on front tank does the rear pump stay on if so the switch is probably bad remove switch from dash and test outputs out puts should switch when switch is moved if you need any further help let me know
next place to check is the valve on the left frame rail unpluggit and check to see if the out puts switch at the plug if the due chances are the valve its self has failed let me know how you make out
the valve will be on the left frame rail just ahead of the front fuel tank it will have 6 fuel lines on it 2 to each tank and 2 to the engine if i remember correctly they are marked were they go to on the valve there is one electrical connection one it check there to make sure you signal is switching if it is switching the valve is bad

I checked the switch with a meter ,checked okay. Changed it anyway, still no joy. Also guage goes to empty when switched to fwd. tank.
Where is this valve in relation say, to the fuel filter on the rail?
