Hi everyone,
This problem has been driving me crazy. My left headlight keeps reporting "left headlight dipped" every few minutes at night. My left light flickers everytime I pass over a bump on the road. Is there any way to fix this by yourself?
Thank you in advance
i appreciate it

AUDI A4- 2005. There is a technical service bulletin for this exact problem. take it to the dealer when this issue has happened while driving. During a daytime drive when cold see if you cant get the light to fail while circling your dealer. As soon as you pull into the service drive do not turn the car off do not flip the switch. I am an Audi Technician for a dealer in Birmingham alabama. Personally this is not my favorite repair to perform; What audi states is that if the bulb flickers the bulb should be replaced; if one side fails the bulb should be swapped left to right if the fault continues with the bulb the bulb is at fault; if the bulb is swapped and the bulb fails again on the same side it is the module. NOW: I currently am working on a 05 A4 that both bulbs both modules have been replaced and Audi has no clue what to advise on a repair. THIS IS AN ISSUE if it has happened to you ask if there is a TSB for this issue or try to find it for yourself.

Hi,I dont know if your Audi has the same problems as SAAB and VW but they suffer from what is called a dry joint on the circuit board inside the headlamp control relay, what happens is as the board heats up it causes expansion/contraction on the bad solder joint causing all sorts of component failures headlamps just being one of them, remove the relay and open it and on close inspection you will find the (dry joint/s) if your handy with a soldering iron a fraction of the price of some of these relays, you can re-melt the solder on the bad joints to cure the problem.

check fuse, Underneath your fuse panel cover you will see a map of what fuse is what, find the headlamp spot, pull out the fuse have a look at the space between the contacts, you should see a contact wire connecting both post to one another, if not or you see a partially melted wire, replace fuse prob from nearest service station ($2) have you been through any cold or overly wet days when this occurred? any bumps in the carpark? Also consider these elements to the effect it can have on your car, lamps are very sensitive and can be blown from even the touch of bare fingers, they heat to extreme temps, bumps and moisture can cause severe damage, but not usually at once. And finally you can go down the track of popping out the switch in the dash and checking its integrity, not much goes on behind the dash to cause damage so I'd say this would be the least likely.... as you mentioned the stalk prob I'll say this.. indicating stalks and alike are much more "high traffic" instruments due to their multiple use nature and are much more prone to fault. this dosen't cover everything, after checking its not the simpler issues, it just gets a little more complicated checking relays, ecu modules and so on.. I'd also suggest looking up on google or even looking at vwwatercooled.org.au I go there all the time, they are all supa VW / Audi fans and will love to help, just do a search for the same issue posted / answered before starting a whole new thread, not that they would really mind I guess ha ha good luck mate, check the fuses ;7) Chas

I have the same issue on my 2002 A4. According to my Audi dealer mechanic, there is a sensor on the front suspension that controls the angle of the headlight. Replacing this may resolve the issue.

Hi, Maybe check the wiring in that side the wires just might be fried. Should be cheap to do. I had the same problem with my 1992 ford ranger
