Fuel gauge/temp gauge not working

1992 Subaru Legacy 2.2L AWD The fuel gauge and the temp gauge are both bottomed out (the needle is not rising at all). We just changed the CPC Solenoid, which was diagnosed as needing replacement from the check engine light code. The gauges stopped working after completing the replacement. Could we have messed up a wire/wires that control the gauges? Thanks, Richard

There are two sensors, one for ECU temp. readings with two pin connector and other one with only one wire, which has been probably disconnected when you replaced the CPC solenoid - very close position.

Subaru legacy b4 fuel gauge read empty when full?gauges jump about too

You have a fuel level sending unit that is not working properly. It is located inside the fuel tank.

Also, when you ask for help with your vehicle it would be very helpful if you could mention WHICH "Legacy" we are talking about. It seems that Subaru got "stuck" on the Legacy name - there are actally 9 choices for "Legacy" just for your model year. (see list below) There are also 2 different engines available for that year a 2.2L and a 2.5L.

Gauge registers 3/4 full when full, then needle slowly goes down to empty. Flucuates between empty and 3/4 full while driving.

hi its either the fuel gauge playing up in the dash up or the fuel sender on the fuel pump in the tank

I have a 1992 Subaru Legacy wagon 2wd automatic. It has started to intermitantly act like the fuel is shutting off as I drive down the road. At the same time this happens I hear a clicking sound coming...

Should be easy to access-there must be a relay block behind the glove box, or underneath the dash.
You will have to make sure what relay this is doing the clicking. I guess if you pulled it out and the fuel pump won't turn on, that could be a clue. Best test is to check your fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge, especially when it is acting up. Then you will know if you have a fuel pump problem or not.

My subaru fuel gauge isn't working too.

You probably have a faulty sending unit which is mounted in tank..There is a access cover in the trunk which affords easy access to the unit and harness connector.at this point you can verify wiring and gauge operation by jumping connector which should read E....unplugged or open will make gauge go high...good luck

1992 SUBARU LEGACY WILL NOT START

Check to see if you have fuel at the fuel rail, if you do, check the injectors to see if they are working. You can use a noid light to see if they have any pulse.

How do you replace the fuel pump in 1992 2wd Subaru Legacy Wagon

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the rear exhaust pipe and muffler assembly.
  4. On All Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles, remove the rear differential assembly and the rear crossmember. You do not have AWD so this step is not for you
  5. Remove the fuel filler cap and drain the fuel into a suitable container.
  6. Remove the fuel filler pipe protector.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle safely on jackstands.
  8. Remove the fuel filler, air vent and delivery hoses.
  9. On AWD vehicles, disconnect the air breather hoses and evaporation hose from the pipes.
  10. Support the fuel tank with a floor jack or equivalent lifting device.
  11. Loosen the attaching bolts and lower the fuel tank slightly.
  12. Disconnect the fuel pump harness
