I'm installing a CD player in a 98 saturn. first question is, the wiring diagram i have seen says there are 2 gray wires, i don't see 2 gray wires so does that mean i run the F-L (-) speaker with the illumination and 12v + switched power? i connected the (slightly thicker black wire with no white stripe) which i assume would be the ground. and i connected the orange wich is supposed to be the 12v + constant power to the red wire on the stereo which is usually always the constant power to see if the stereo would even work and the stereo started smoking. i'm not planning on using a wiring harness.

That stereo is now most likely dead. speaker wires are mostly green/black stripe, white/b s, grey/b s and violet/b s. ground is black and power are red and yellow.
