Thermostat ok, replaced coolant expansion tank which was cracked and replaced heater hose to the heater core. Water/coolant just boils out the overflow. What should I check next??
The year of the vehicle, rusty liquid, and overheating, says your radiator could use a replacement. If it was your water pump, you would have liquid coming out of the water pump itself.
And, chances are flushing it out won't change anything. It's a old radiator, and has served it's purpose.
You should be able to just back up the fan shroud and let it rest on the fan. Then you will need to remove the automatic transmission lines, the upper and lower hoses, and the retaining bolts.

Check the water pump if it s working ok and also check the radiator.

Think water pump is ok..... just going to change out radiator. I think you guys are right. Prolly won't help to try and flush the old thing. right?? When it boils out water it is super rusty.
Help again!!?? How do I get the radiator out of my 1991 Town Car? I am attempting to remove the shroud off the fan. What else do I need to remove or do to get the old crummy thing out??!! Thx much
Me again. Overheating 1991 Town Car. Trying to check fan clutch. Does have resistance, moves about 1/2 turn when pushed by hand, but jiggled the fan itself and it does have a small wobble. Anyone think I need the heater core flushed? Car gets hot quickly and boils and steams out the expansion overflow. ALSO, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE EXPANSION TANK (WHICH HAS A 'RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP' ON IT WHEN IT ALSO HAS AN OUTLET HOSE (FOR OVERLFOW??) THAT IS JUST OPEN TO AIR. What's the point of a pressure cap when there is an opening in the expansion tank anyway? Help!?
Sounds like a bad radiator.
