The Vehicle suddenly loses power when driving, particularly on slight inclines. Problem is intermittent.Allowing the engine to stop & restart solves the problem for a short while.(Just switching off & on while engine is turning does not solve the problem even temporarily.I thought this might be a fuel pump or pump relay problem. I have already replaced the fuel filer.
SOURCE: LOSS OF POWER
My car has now been sorted.
Turns out it was a problem with the feul pump. cost another £200 to get everything done but its been running fine for a few weeks now.

My daughter had the same problem! It turns out the key had "deprogramed" itself. Sure enough, we used her spare key and the car ran like a champ. Oddly enough, the back-up key's remote did not work. VW wanted around $200 dollars to reprogram her key and about the same amount to get a new remote. We put the back-up key on the good remote and she is off to the races.

it starts from cold because the auto choke is on ,allowing a richer mixture ,try removing the sender unit in the tank and seeing if the connection from the pump to the outlet connection is ok or leaking causing a loss of fuel pressure
SOURCE: Engine stalls while driving. Fuel deprivation?
I am having the exact same problem with my VW Touareg @60,000 miles. Two weeks ago and again today it sputters and stalls shortly after starting. I brought it into the shop and they could not reproduce the problem and said it was fine. Also, they had no ideas when I describes the problem. Anyone know what it going on? I am out of warranty.
