2003 Audi A4 1.8T Check Engine light on

Car has 94,000 miles on it. The check engine light came on while driving on highway @ 65 mph. It's not flashing. Engine is running fine, doesn't miss, no lost power, has plenty of oil. I've driven 50 miles since the light came on. Just had the timing belt, water pump replaced.I am 1000 miles away from home and it's sunday in the midwest! Any ideas what the problem could be?? thanks!

The CEL means there is a Diagnostic Fault Code stored in the Engine Control Unit. There are 1000's of DTC's, so you will need to have it read by a Code Reader. Auto Parts stores like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, perhaps even Advanced Auto often will read the code for you; but by law they cannot clear the codes. Many codes do not cause drivability problems, severe ones will trigger the ECU to run in a Limp Mode, which would require repair work before any trip longer than a few miles. Hope this is helpful.

Mine is a 2003 Audi A4 1.8 94,000 miles on it. Couple of days ago the Check Engine light came on. I went to advance auto parts, read the a code, it was "P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected". Just bought it about a week ago. Today the Check engine light comes off. Should i still worry or bring it back to the dealer where i bought it from?

How too

I am assuming you can't get the car tested for emissions.
The car has to be driven for 50-100 miles in several different conditions to give the computer a chance to check all of the sensors. Normally the cycle must include some highway driving above 55 mph, city stop and go, and idle time. And the engine must be at normal operating temp before the drive counts.

Sounds like a week fuel pump have the pressure checked at a local repair shop. Also if it has a lot of miles on it the catalytic converter could be stopped up also have the local shop check it out it is real easy to check.

Engine check light showed up when I drove at 65 mph

I would recommend having the computer checked for trouble codes next. The codes will help point a mechanic in the right direction for what to test.

When i drive my 99 lincon town car after the last gear the car shakes, a friend told me is a transmition sensor,is tha possible ?

Is the check engine light on ?
If you have a problem with a sensor in the trans or a miss in the engine the check engine light should come on and set a code.
If not, it could be a problem with the drive shaft or other mechanical issue.

While driving easily, speed about 65-70 mph, the check engine light comes on. No noticeable abnormal engine behavior was noticed.

Hi

The only way to really know what it is its to go to your local mecanic center and ask to a scan for your car.

The technician will give you the engine code and will know what is wrong or what can have cause the engine light to comes on.

Your check engine light should be on. There is obviously a problem. The best course of action is to have the engine scanned for codes. The on board diagnostics should have stored one or more trouble codes, based on the information you have given. A good auto parts store will scan your computer for free. Any diagnosis at this point would be guessing, and not based on factual information. It could be anything from a bad sensor, to needing a tune up, to a plugged catalytic converter. Get the codes and let me know what they are and we will try to figure out a solution based on that information.

Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there.
