sounds like your automatic transmission is stuffed, take it to a mechanic for a second opinion but it seems to me like you'll need to either rebuild or replace the transmission
SOUND LIKE TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER.NOT LOCKING UP FOR OVER DRIVE.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.TAKE VECHICLE TO ANY AUTO PARTS STORES THEY CODE SCAN IT FREE AND TELL YOU YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TROUBLE CODE.
Try taking it to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. At the very least, you want to know what the idle rpm is set at.
It sounds like you may have a leaking Intake manifold gasket. You would test for this with a water mist from a spray bottle. While the engine is running spray around the intake gasket and any Vacuum lines you see. The RPM will change when you find the leak.
I see you want to slow down the idle. If the idle speeded up on its own, that is a sign of an Intake leak. There is a part called a throttle position sensor,TPS, which is really your accelerator. It has a slight RPM adjustment slot on one side of the 2 mounting screws. Both screws must be loosened to move the part.
I am not understanding why, if the engine runs better when you press on the gas, would you want to slow the idle down (which is like not pressing on the gas)?
Anyway, I hope my solutons are very helpful to you and that you can fix your car. Maybe the scan at Autozone will help you.
The engine will shake when slowing down, because releasing the accelerator drops the rpm of the engine immediately. The engine only "knows" it has slowed down and will shake the same way if standing still.
There are many reasons for the shaking. All are due to needing a tune up. Poor timing, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc.
If you need help fixing something, give me a call.
no, idle air control valve is literally to control your idle speed.
what happen when you press on gas? car shakes, RPM goes up, or engine just bogs down?
Not sure what is causing it, but it sounds like you're running on 3 cyllinders. Check plugs, wires, timing . timing belt may have jumped, bad injector, low fuel pressure.
