I fouled up the timing on my 1990 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Tried resetting it to the factory specs but it still wont start.

Had to take the timing belt off to get to a cam leak. I didn't mark the timing gears. I reset it to the factory specs but it still wont start! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You have not set it to the factory spec, and its probably 180 degrees off. Rotate the crank to top dead center (the mark on the crank toothed pulley, align the cam timing marks, refit the belt THEN release the tensioner. Rotate the engine manually to verify that all the timing marks realign themselves.

My drivers chest seat belt went tight and i had to un hook it from the top buckle and it retracted all the way and will not release. this is a 1990 subaru legacy ls wagon

I've had a few vehicles with these autobelts and have been through this. Most manufacturers provide and access panel that will allow you to release the belt manually. Once released some can be reset with precedures as simple as unplugging the battery, waiting 5 to 15 minutes and connecting it back up.

Others your stuck with only being able to leave the connector in the rear IN USE location and having to manually fasten the belt.

If you have an owners manual, it should be listed in the first few pages... Otherwise, if you visit your local library, they will allow you to copy the pages with instructions from their Chiltons or Haynes refference manuals...

Hope this helps

I hate to tell you this but the guy isn't returning your calls because the head gasket is blown and he probably knew it.
As for the 1990... have you checked the water pump for leaks? (front/ driver's side on the bottom of the engine) My guess is that it's faulty and unfortunately, it's behind the timing belt.
Both of these repairs will be a pretty penny.
Good luck!
