The ignition switch is an input to the BCM - body control module , the BCM turns on relays powering up systems on the vehicle .
The BCM executes the high power mode by grounding the controlled power relay coil control circuit of the CONTROLLED POWER relay whenever the BCM is awake. This circuit also is grounded for 15 minutes after you turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position in order to obtain the RAP function. After 15 minutes elapse, the BCM enter a sleepstate and transitions to the low power mode. The components under controlled power then receive any necessary voltage from the battery positive voltage circuit of the BCM. If the BCM is in the low power mode, and the BCM detects that the current exceeds approximately 2 amperes, the BCM wakes up and re-enters the high power mode. If the vehicle remains inactive with the ignition in the LOCK position and without any BCM wake-ups for a period of 3 days, the BCM deactivates the low power mode. Normally all parking lights are controlled by the light switch. First turn turn on the parking lights and second turn turns on the head lights.

Are you sure it is not your break lights staying on? if this is your break lights - look at break pedal for break light switch staying on or not adjusted correctly. Does your car battery gets drained from your break lights staying on?

The only suggestion I can make is that the turn signal switch is defective and is shorted internally. If you disconnect the turn signal/multifunction switch under the dash do the lights go out in question?

REMOVAL

1. On models equipped with airbag, disarm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. On all models, disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove ignition switch as described under STARTING AND CHARGING SYSTEMS/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES/IGNITION SWITCH.
4. Remove key light case from lock body, if equipped.
5. On 1989 Accord models, place ignition lock cylinder in the ACC position.
6. On except 1989 Accord, place ignition lock in the I position.
7. On all models, position suitable punch into hole on lock cylinder housing and depress pin, then remove lock cylinder from housing.

INSTALLATION

1. On 1989 Accord models, install ignition lock cylinder as follows:

1. Place ignition lock cylinder in the LOCK position.
2. Rotate key until it is almost at the ACC position, then insert lock cylinder until pin contacts housing.
3. Rotate key to ACC position, then push pin in and insert lock cylinder into housing until pin clicks into place.

hiya if the rear lights are remaining on ? with no ignition it will be the brake lights staying on this is easily remendied/ checked by trypulling the brake pedal up by hand and see if lights go off ? if so then you will need to adjust the b/light switch which is positioned adjacent to pedal and can be screwed inwards towards the pedal untill the plunger on switch is pushed into the switch which puts lights off ensure pedal is fully up then adjust switch reconnect the wire/plug and press pedal slightly to ensure b/lights operate ok and then go off with pedal released ? on hyundai the brakelights do not req ignition on to operate hence more likely problem is as above good luck
