SOURCE: Running "rough"

I had the same issue with my venture. It turned out to be the number 5 plug wire, backside of engine ended up breaking out of the plug carrier and burning in half on the manifold. Your best bet is to trace all the wires to start off with and change the plugs. If that doesn't help, it may be internal. Good luck

i want you to get OBD trouble codes from your computer. then post them on here. im sure it will hold clues to what the problem is...Various auto part stores will do this service for free in hopes you will buy parts from them...but call them first and make sure. parts to look at Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve...it acts like a choke with modern engines. also the Coolant temp sensor is associated with this as well. Second is the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor. and last one is your Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor . lastly it could be the Throttle position sensor (TPS).. all these can be detected on your computer within the car. although the the numbered codes will be labeled with abreviations like MAP Sensor or IAC valve. also you can manually test all these sensors at home with a regular voltage tester and reading some online info...just search " How to test a MAP sensor" almost all sensors have very similar readings from car to car, so its pretty generic. hope this helps

Do you know if the plugs were changed, a bad or broken plug will also cause rough idle and slow acceleration?

sounds like your egr valve is gummed up or bad. this is located behind the throttle body and has a single vaccum tube connected to it. if the diafram is still good you can remove it and clean it with WD 40 until the plunger works smooth

Hi.

The check engine light, driving problems and smell was in consequence of the misfires. If now the car drives fine, the vacuum leak could have been the cause of the original troubles. As far as I understood now the problem is only when idle.
Ensure that you have replaced the air filter , also double check vacuum and check/clean the air intake duct and sensors (IAT, MAP- see here for removal). Those are factors that can affect and cause misfire during idle. The IAC valve can also cause similar troubles and must be checked.

All the part listed above may cause lean or rich mixture. The problem is not necessarily detected by the O2 sensors in the exhaust and may result in no lean or rich code being stored in ECM.

If mixture and air intake are not responsible, and if the problem does not only occurr when idle, check the high voltage wires from coils to spark plugs (particularly if a code on a particular cylinder comes back). Check timing, valves, EGR and fuel pressure/fuel pump. Try doing an injector cleaning and check injectors (both spray and voltage).

How do I fix my car that had a cylinder 5 missfire and now has a random missfire?

random misfires are from injector and low fuel pressure problems

I have a 1996 chevy Corsica with a code PO300.I have tried many repairs and still cannot repair this code

code p0300 refers to random/multiple cylinder/s ---misfire detected=== causes spark plug/s--HT lead/s--injector/s---ignition coil/s--low compression --wiring
Seeing as you have covered all the electrics, now concentrate on the injectors and fuel pressures
If you will do all injectors and the fuel pressure is where it is supposed to be ( pressure test) then you will have covered all bases
Low compression will be in the one cylinder only ans will remain in that cylinder regardless of injector or plug changes
I would leave that to the last resort as if it is random, it may be a loose valve seat insert that moves randomly causing a compression problem

Chevy suburban 5.3 2006 random missfire on all cylinders

Have you used all the gas that was previously in the tank, It sounds like you have a slight water in the gas. If you haven't used any gas since it started this, then I would drain it out and re-fill it. Also what type of plugs are you running, this will have an impact on how the engine performs. Some people use the most expensive platinum plug and the engine will only perform with the mid platinum or the OEM. I have seen a lot of cars like this and once the plugs are changed to a OEM or a little better plug, the problems go away. Good luck.

1998 windstar 3.0 # 3 missfire code changed wires ,plugs, coil , injector, only code is missfire number three cat not plugged any ideas?

Head gasket could be blown allowing antifreeze to get into that cylinder and causing the plug to foul. Need to do a compression check and pay special attention to the cylinder at fault for low compression reading. If there is a head gasket bad, the two cylinders beside each other are usually low; also, you should see some drop in antifreeze if this is happening.

Po300 random mulitple misfire detected p1399 misfire any cylinder

If only one of your cylinders was misfiring, you probably would be getting a more specific code than P1399.
Also check the distributor rotor along with the cap and coils and wires (as mrgreenz suggests); the EGR valve to make sure it doesn't leak; your fuel pressure which can cause random misfires if the pressure is too low; and injectors if they are really dirty. If you have really high mileage, I probably would first just change out the plug wires with a new set, then reset the DTC and see if the code comes back.
Hope this is helpful as well.
