Good day
This will have an electronic ignition and you will have to replace that. Use the old engines distributor and make sure there are no loose wires and check the condenser as well.
Good luck.

How do i replace distributor pickup assembly is a distributor on a 93 mercury topaz

Yes you would remove the distributor and then remove the center shaft.
If you do it be sure and mark the position of the distributor before you take it out of the engine.

Want to remove and replace the distributor in my 1997 gmc

1 Remove the plastic cover from the engine block with a wrench, then let the spark plug wires lead you to the distributor. It's at the back of the engine block.

2 Remove the negative cable from the battery at the side of the engine compartment; carefully pull the spark plug wires off the distributor cap so you don't damage them. Use a screwdriver to take off the coil leads from the distributor and the electrical connector at the bottom of the distributor.

3 Loosen the clamps and take off the distributor cap. Mark the parts to align the rotor position to the distributor housing and the housing to the engine block. This will help replace parts correctly during distributor installation.

4 Unbolt the distributor hold-down bolt with a wrench and remove the distributor from the engine.

5 Install the new Sierra distributor, aligning the marks for proper seating in the engine block. When ordering the distributor, give the parts dealer your model, year and engine size. You can order part number A1841639 from Parts Train for a 4.3L engine.

6 Re-install the distributor hold-down bolt. Replace the distributor cap and put the clamps back on. Attach the electrical connector at the base of the distributor, put on the spark plug wires and coil leads, and hook up the negative battery cable.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. Dose the distributor itself needs to be replaced or the cap?

Usually, you only replace the Distributor Cap and Rotor, not the Distributor itself.

My 2003 gmc v6 just had its plugs and wires and distributor cap and button changed and i put the distributor button on wrong, it ran fine 4 a mon. or 2 and one of the screws came out of the button and...

The distributor cap and/or the ignition rotor most likely have a crack somewhere and the distributor cap should be replaced along with the ignition rotor. The ignition module could have been damaged as well as the ignition pick-up coil/stator and if replacing the distributor cap and ignition rotor does not solve the problem then the ignition module or the pick-up coil/stator assembly inside of the distributor is also most likely damaged and the distributor will need to be replaced. There is a certain procedure for removing and replacing the distributor, and the ignition timing is not adjustable and it is not set using a timing light or with the engine running, and if you do have to replace the distributor Let me know if you require the procedure to properly remove and replace the distributor or if you require any further assistance.

How hard is it to install pickup coil in the distributor of a 2001 dodge ram 1500 pickup.

The pick-up coil/stator is easily replaced in a dodge distributor, and once you have removed the distributor cap and the ignition rotor, then just dis-connect the wire connector from the pick-up coil/stator and lift it straight up and out of the distributor, and the distributor does not have to be removed or dis-assembled to replace the pick-up coil/stator. There are two alignment tabs on the pick-up coil/stator that will match up with the distributor cap when the pick-up coil/stator is properly installed. Here are two images to help assist you.

I just replace my prado ignition distributor and it hardly start

Sometimes you cannot just take out the distributor and replacing them. It must be put back in the excat position that it was before.
Start the engine, loosen the distributor bolts, and while its running, turn the distributor sideways. Note the position that the engine runs quietly, then tighten the distributor bolt. If you have a timing-gun, connect it to the battery, and aim it to the crank-pulley. The degree that the #1 pistion fires is marked in degree on the crank-pulley (0, 5-degree). Repeat this as necessary. Or better get the car to a 'friendly' auto repair shop.

1990 HONDA ACCORD DISTRIBUTOR LEAKING OIL INTERNALLY

Lease check and make sure that you replace with the right seal, that alone should have taken care of this problem. However if the valve cover gasket is loose or bad it will cause oil to leak around distributor are but NOT into distributor. This seal can be easily replaced by loosing 4 10mm bolts on top of valve cover. Contact if you need more help Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

NO You will have to replace distributor because the cranks sensor is located in distributor, However to help cut cost I would recommend getting a use distributor from a salvage place it should be alot less.
