There is no sound when you start a car after it seats in the garage at 30 - 40 F. It takes about 30 min driving at the same temp the sound to appear. Then it works all day even with the long stops.
No year car.
is radio stock or aftermarket,,,,,
id make it fail.
then diagnose it then.
id attach a test antenna. (does it have CD or CASSETTE or USB port: or ipod port? if yes, do they all fail.. I have all those but cassette)
if only radio car. then test antenna, work now, bad car antenna.
still dead RAD. the uses a heat gun to radio. starts working?
bingo bad radio..
i used to fix them for 6 years. in the MIL. viet nam era.

Hi Shamiza, I have a Mercedes Diesel Motorhome and I use Bio Diesel, if I don't dilute the fuel with regular diesel a red light comes on EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) I then go into limp mode no more than3,500 rpm this is in case I do damage to high pressure pump. So I am presuming your vehicle is Petrol and possibly requires a service of sorts to the fuel system? Electronic Petrol Control??
It is just a thought and if it were me I would be knocking my Vw dealership for further advice.
I hope this helps

SOURCE: on my BMW 528i while driving radio stops working,
low power, bmw ecu has some code that starts shutting down systems on low power. so poor charging from the alternator to the battery.
this could also be a wet ecu tracking false codes.
i don't have direct experience with a series 5 but also check your ecu condition.
the ecu compartment is under the windshield on the passenger side on E36
you gain acess to it under the hood....
this compartment gets wet, the ecu lays on a flat surface in that
compartment.
the bottom side of the circuit board gets wet and starts corrosion.
remove the ecu, take the bottom plate off, clean the bottom of the circuit
board with alcohol and a soft tooth brush.
you should be able to see the signs of corrosion or conductive build up.
this gunk bridges solder points doing all sort s of wierd things to your
car, including false sensor readings from asc/abs controllers and other
sensors....
all the way to engine failure and worst case burnt and shorted wiring
harness.
I'm on my 3rd ecu, took me and the repair boys a few years to figure this
one out.
BTW: i would get that ecu mounted above that flat surface, use some sort
of standoff to raise it so that it is not laying in the wet.
SOURCE: The car wont again start after driving it any for about 20
I HAD SAME PROBLEM, ENDED BEING CRANK SENSOR GETTING WEAK, AFTER HOT THE CRANKING SIGNAL IS TO WEAK TO TRIGGER FIRING.
