SOURCE: Dashboard and tail lights out on 97" Nissan Sentra

I took my pathfinder to U-HAUL and asked them to check the towing lights. There was a pinched wire by my tail light and they cut it and changed it out for me, it was $5. I am so glad that I didnt take it to Nissan. My second step was going to be getting a new dimmer switch..but the guy who worked on my car said that wouldnt be the problem. He also told me that replacing a fuse that kept blowing out was dangerous and after the first time to get it checked out. Learn something new every day!!

SOURCE: Running Lights, Rear Lights and Dash Lights not working

Running lights in front sides of vehicle short out in time. I simply disconnected the plugs found inside the front wheel wells and packed them with grease for time being. When the weather improves I will find the chaffed insulation and repair. Replaced the 15amp fuse found under the hood and shwing, back on the road.

My 2005 matrix keeps blowing 15amp rear running light fuse every time light get turned on all other lights work fine.whats causing this?

fuses blow because of dead shorts or excess current draw
to blow a 15 amp fuse indicates a dead short
by disconnecting the rear lights , the problem is in something else you have replaced
could be a problem in the head light wiring

Dash light dimmer

Replace the dash light bulb, sometimes filament is broken, but bulb works the same.

If bulb is ok , then is a bad wiring.

Electrical problem

I doubt the problem is a fuse altho you could check them to make sure.
The dash lights and tail lights are on two different circuits controlled by the headlight switch. Each circuit would need to be tested.

Dash & rear lights out with fuse that keeps blowing when replaced

The radio should have a wire that connects to the dash lights to light up the face at night. I'm guessing that's shorted out

How can I figure out why fuse 15A keeps blowing? My dashboard lights don't work nor do the back lights. My breaks and signals work but at night when I turn the car on the regular lights in the back...

There is a shorted wire somewhere in that circuit. Check to see if any wires are pinched under a bracket or brace where he was working. I have seen it where it was a light bulb the was bad. Need someone familiar with a volt/ohm meter to help trace problem. Good Luck. You did not state where he had been working.

I have a 2002 XL7 and the fuse for the dash lights and tail lights keeps blowing. I've changed it three times now - the lights will work for a few days and then the fuse will blow again.

something is shorting to ground...look for any bare wiring...i had one time ..a brake light fuse kept blowing...after about 2 days found out it was the bulb it self (it was working too)...strange ???

I changed stereo and now the dashlights do not work

Check your park light fuse. You may have blown the fuse for the dashlights/park lights by accidentally grounding the night illumination wire, located in the radio wiring. That wire runs from the dash lights to the radio, to illuminate the radio at night. Alternately, if the park light fuse keeps blowing when you replace it, you might've hooked that night light wire up to the wrong wire on your radio.
