I have a 98 dodge caravan the speedometer is way off I will be going the speed limit 70mph but my gauge will say I'm doing like 95mph. My gas gauge when it gets like on the 1/4 mark I need to fill up the van because its empty. What could be causing these things?

SOURCE: 98 dodge caravan problems

I had the same issue with my dodge caravan and after several attempts by the dealer to fix it, it turned out to be a broken wire. They replaced the relay and it would work for a while and then go blank again. Have the wires checked thoroughly.

SOURCE: speed sensor replacement issues in 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan

The buzzing sound is from the torque convertor lock up solenoid, there is a fuse for this under the hood to verify thats the problem from the buzzing, next where did you get the vss,if it's not oem from a dealer than I would think it's the problem also using a obii scan tool check and clear any codes,so as far as not starting is this from a dead battery or other issue I would unhook the vss and see if it can start.

SOURCE: dashboard gauges dont work, 1998 dodge caravan

These vehicles seem to have a problematic short, my grandfather has the same vehicle with the same problem, i found the short under the carpet on the driver side of the vehicle, under the gas pedal, sometimes wires can crack and break.

My 98 dodge caravan seems like all of the fuel injectors, or the fuel pump doesnt work. when i first start my car, the dashboard only half works. the speedometer doesnt read and the gas gauge doesnt move...

Hello,
This definitely sounds like an electrical issue. The first thing I would check would be your ground from the battery to the engine block. Make sure they are tight and secure with no breaks.

Everthing on my dash (speedometer,odometer,fuel

Blown Fuse or fried Circuit board. Take to a local AutoZone, Advance, Murray's, O'reillys or a similar part house for them to check the wiring. I'm assuming the van does not use a mechanical Speedometer or Fuel Gauge.

On the plus side, with no speedometer, your indicated odometer mileage does not increase. Just keep your speed down and your tank full. Kidding, just kidding.

None of the gauges (speedometer, gas, oil, temp).

check the fuses and fuse link wires by the battery pull the fuse link wire with your finger if it feels spongy or comes apart in your hand you need to replace it with a new fuse link wire
