2003 Ford Crown Vic with autolamp system. Problem recently developing. Headlights will turn off while in automatic mode. Marker remain on but headlamps go out. In order to light the way I must hold the high beam flash stem back. 15-30 seconds later, relay clicks and low beams are back on. Don't trust auto system but using manual switch mode the headlamps will not turn on. Even after 15-30 usual blackout, no lights. Override with high beam flash mode to see/be seen. Is this a switch problem, wiring, computer or what? Ideas?
If you have a 1999-2011 Mercury Marquis, Mercury Marauder, or Crown Victoria, and your headlights and or tail lights don\'t work, Ford just finally extended the warranty on your LCM (Lighting Control Module) for free - both parts and labor and will install a new one for free! Ford has extended the warranty to 15yrs/250,000. Must be done at Ford and the fix is free. Call your local Ford Dealer and tell them you need to make an appointment because your lights don\'t work and Ford has extended your warranty on the LCM. Tell them it is the Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01. Have your Vin number ready as they will ask for it. If they act ****** ask to talk to the manager or tell them to call Ford Motor Company and ask them or you can call Ford yourself. We just had ours done on 8-12-14 in Scottsdale, AZ. If you have a 99 you better get there before Oct. 14th, 2014 as it is a 15 year warranty.

Thanks. I'll try jumping wires tomorrow. It is a 2003 Crown Vic LX Sport. Sensor appears to be on mirror. There is a TSB listed for Erratic Headlamp Operation #16698 10001944. Any idea if it applies? Also while looking at TSB summaries for this problem, I came across TSB 17295 for Flickering Dash/Cluster Lights. Vehicle does this. I usually adjust dimmer and problem seems to disappear. Figure it is just dirty control. Any guidance appreciated.
For the sensor on the mirror, there are three wires. I've jumped all three in various combination and the headlights still don't come on. Next option?
Hello,
Need a little bit of info. What model Crown Vic? There is typicly a sensor in the dash or mirror for the auto lamps. This sensor completes the circuit to the headlamp switch. When you locate the sensor, unplug it and jump the two wires across. If the head lamps work you found you culprit. If not , Let me know and I will guide you thru some basic troubleshooting techniqs that can help in curing you troubles.
