Car alarm goes off when driver door is opened, but alarm hasn't been set as there is no remote. Problem is intermittent.

My 1998 Buick Park Avenue has alarm problems. The remote is broken, and has been for years, but occasionally the car alarm will go off when the driver's door is opened. It will run for 30 seconds with horn honking and lights flashing, then shut off. But the next time you open the door, it goes off again. It doesn't seem to matter whether the door has been locked or not. Using the passenger door doesn't set the alarm off, but it is very awkward for getting in and out that way. After having this happen 5 or 6 or more times, the problem suddenly goes away for months, then shows up again. What is happening and how can it be stopped?

You have to have a remote if you want to sort the problem for good.

How to disarm alarm 1996 buick park ave

Easiest way to go about it is disconnect the wire to the noise maker. U could disconnect the wire to the alarm board itself but you do not know if there are some other circuits tied into it that will be disabled when you do the disconnect. But if you do it my way there is no hassle.

Of course, when the alarm goes off you will hear nada. My only concern is that when the alarm goes off if it kills other circuits that make the car go.

If you can get a hold of a schematic you can tell what the story is and what to do.

How do I disable the alarm on my 95 Buick park avenue? It keeps going off whenever I enter my car...? The dealer only gave me the ignition key...? I don't know what's going on...?

If you lock your doors with your remote or the power locks you need to unlock them with the remote or the alarm will go off. to reset the alarm you need to put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off 3 times fast.

My 1987 Buick Park Avenue alarm goes off for no apparent reason. Up until last night the security alarm was okay. It went off while we were away from home (we found out later). We had just got back home...

Same here. What I do is lock all doors using the button on the driver's door before opening the door, then open the driver's door and lock it manually. That seems to keep it disarmed. I believe it has to be the driver's door for this to work, but I don't know for sure.
