2000 Hyundai Tiburon will not start

I have a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon and I went out of town for about 6 weeks and it sat the whole time. When I got back the car would not start at all. I have no accessory lights when I turn the key, no clock, no nothing. Tried to jump start it and only got the door ajar light. Replaced the battery and now have the door ajar light and the key-in-ignition chime with door open but nothing else. It is completely dead. Could this be from the battery draining and the alarm kill mode, or maybe something else. Thank You.

Thanks. I thought that maybe it could be the alarm system, but unfortunately my keyless entry remote hasn't worked in some time. The alarm was still active but somehow the code was changed or something in the past, and I've never checked on how to reprogram it back to factory specs.

There is NO possible electrical cause (within REASON) which would create the problem you describe. I assume you tried the Keyless Entry Remote to DIS-ARM the anti-theft system. If the ALARM system was activated, it will stay activated until it's de-activated by the remote (typical design feature). The best SOLUTION is to take vehicle into Hyundai an have the problem diagnosed.

Have an 08 tiburon. recently it was towed about forty miles home for reaaons other than mechanical it sat for three weeks without being cranked up.i went out and started the engine and it started smoking...

After sitting for a period of time it is NOT uncommon for a vehicle to exhibit symptoms such as this especially if the battery died as well. The lifters have a tendency to collapse under the constant valve spring pressure and the computer may have to relearn the idle characteristics. The best advice without actually seeing the vehicle would be to charge the battery, change the oil and filter if it is old and then restart it. Let it run without touching the accelerator and as it warms up it should clear itself up. There definitely wasn't a mechanical reason for the tow? I ask because I can't imagine what other reason would make someone tow their vehicle.

Good luck,
Vinnie

My 2000 hyundai tiburon alarmed itself and the alarm is sounding. I have no remote control that works.

Put key in ignition, turn all the way forward, but not trying to start. Let alarm cycle 2 times, when it stops the 2nd time, remove key and alarm should be disarmed. This will only work if it is a factory alarm.

Hyundai Tiburon Won't Start

Possibly the alarm cut-off switch? or Ignition key switch (or wires) going bad?

But you mentioned you tried to jump start it and it did turn over?
IF so, you could have severe corrosion or loose connections of the battery cable both at the battery and at the termination points, such as ground and starter motor.
Check that the battery wires are tight and clean at the battery posts and at the other end.

Again the No lights suggests either the alarm cut-off, or an absolute disconnected battery cable.

Finally, it could be ignition fuse, Check fuses. Ignition key switch.

What makes this hard is that you suggest it would turn over with another battery connected. This makes no sense.

Good luck
