Just attach the negative cable to any metal ground. This will protect the battery in the Olds and still enable you to jump start your car. Best of luck.

You've got it exactly backwards. He's using the van to jumpstart the car. The question isn't as simple as it sounds. The oldsmobile is set up with the fusebox on top. There is no way to get to the negative terminal. So in other words it's simple to jump start the van with another car but the van is useless for jumpstarting another car.

How to replace old battery with new in a 2002 oldsmobile silhouette

Take note of any radio codes. If you don't know them, get a small or another 12v battery, a set of small jumper leads, connect the leads clips to the matching cables on the car at the battery. You are now supplying a small current in parallel. Using a buddy to hold the battery terminals away from the bodywork remove the negative first, then the positive. Remove battery and replace with new battery. Reattach positive terminal first then negative, then remove small jumper cables and it should have preserved your codes etc.

I have a 2002 Olds Silhouette that sat for 3 years. I tried to jump it with no battery. Not enough juice to get it started. I put a new battery in it and now I get no power anywhere.

Most common problem is bad connection at the battery, or battery cable end terminals, but yes, all cars I've worked on have fusible links, either near the battery or near the starter.

My 2002 chrysler sebring wont start unless it gets jumped. the battery is good and the alternator is good. I checked the fuse box and everything seemed good. what else could it be?

sounds like a bad connection at or from the battery. If the battery is dirty, clean it and the terminals, provided the battery is good. How did you check the battery and the alternator?

I need to jumpstart and cant find the battery...

The battery should be on the right hand side of the car, in the engine compartment, remember when you jump start it to hook up the jumper cables like this; negative jumper cable to negative battery terminal on your car, then positive jumper cable to positive terminal on your car, then, put the other positive jumper cable to the car that's jumper car and last connect the other negative jumper cable to the jumer cars engine block, and that should help you.

How do you jump start the car

You may have to expose the battery terminals due the fact of plastic covers on the newer vehicles. If the battery terminals are already exposed, you will find one terminal with a red wire while the other is black, (usually). The terminal witht the red wire is considered the positive terminal, which will match a plus sign. The red jumper cable must be attached to this terminal, and the other red jumper cable must be attached to the other battery with a red wire. Then, follow suit with the black wire, this is the negative wire, hence the minus sign. This works if you have another vehicle to jump your battery from.

If you are using a battery charger, you will have to connect the reds to reds and the blacks to blacks using the aligator clips at the ends.

Unplug field circuit from generator.
Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire Wiring Connections - 2.4/2.5L
Loosen top mounting ear bolt.
Loosen pivot bolt, but do not remove. Be careful not to lose nut Generator - 2.5L Engine
Loosen adjusting bolt on idler to allow removal of the generator drive belt.
Remove pivot bolt, do not drop spacer.
Remove top mounting ear bolt.
Remove upper generator bracket.
Remove generator.
INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse above procedures. Tighten all fasteners and add small amount of lock tight.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Clicking noise under hood of 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Sounds like you have a dead battery. You either need a jump start with jumper box or clean battery terminals and see if that works
