U can push the button and u can feel the transfer case lock in cause it reduces the gearing but the front drive shaft wont turn
Sounds like chevy caught up with dodge!!?? actuator vacuum powered from tranny, check vacuum lines on ends especially . if not its a broken shaft witch i seen my share, or pinion gear but i doubt it should make ungodly sounds if this was so. good luck

small sylinoid on the top of the transfer case needs replaced. easy to do. it has three vacumelines going to it just trun out and replace like a bolt.
SOURCE: Transfer case leak
You mean between the case halves? It is just silicon, no gasket. These are good for the pump wearing a hole in the rear housing and leaking oil. The cure for it is a new rear housing and a piece called a case saver that keeps the pump from doing it again. Taking the transfer case apart to fix it is easy, I can tell you how to do it.
SOURCE: 4x4 wont engage
There is a switch that has twwo wires going to it, it's located just above the motor on your transfer case,on the drivers side, one plug goes to the motor and the other goes to this switch, it's the motor that shifts it into low and high range, I'm not sure what the switch is called but it tells the front end when to lock and unlock.
Hope it helps

Sounds like the chain in the transfer case has broke or the linkage is out of adjustment
