This problem is very seldom the knock sensor, it can be the harness connector at the sensor or the engine has excessive knock which will set a code, u did not mention the particular code so hard to say, the location of the knock sensor is the lower section of the engine block, it is screwed into what would normally be a block drain plug, if u replace it u need to torque it to whatever the factory spec is or it can cause it throw another code..

2005 Dodge Durango 4.7L V8. Where are the Bank 1 sensors 1 & 2 located please?

Question turned around for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

Bank one is drivers side.
Sensor 1 is closest to the engine and before the Catalytic Converter.
Sensor 2 is just after the Cat in the exhaust.

Same as this

More here. Check that the wiring is intact, as it is odd they have both failed.

Knock sensor location on a 2005 dodge Durango 4.7 liter

There are two knock sensors, and they are installed into the block (left and right side) under the intake manifold. The intake manifold must be removed to replace them. They are not identical, and must be installed in the correct position (they are tagged) so that the PCM knows which is which.

How do I locate the Crank shaft sensor on a 2005 Dodge Durango

Have you looked on the transmission just behind the engine block? A lot of the Dodge vehicles get readings of the flexplate/flywheel.

The sensor is located either in the air filter box or in the air duct coming from the box going to the throttle body. Let me know if you need anything else.

2005 dodge durango driving down the road,

Are you actually hearing the engine speed change as well when this happens, or just seeing the tach needle make crazy readings??

If only the tach is being funky, then I would say a speed sensor on the tranny is on its way out. There is also a speed sensor on the rear axle of some Durangos that can cause this issue.

Check gages light came on driving a 2002 dodge durango now engines knocking

with engine running check the oil pressure gauge. if it is not reading you will have to check the pressure with an external gauge. the sensor on a v8 is locaterd rear of the engine next to the distributor. No oil pressure will starve the engine of lubrication and cause damage resulting in the knocking .

2005 Dodge Durango knock sensor problems

I really doubt the knock sensor is the problem, check the connector 1st for water intrusion or oil, if u do replace it then u must torque it to the proper spec into the cooling system jacket of the block or it will set another code.
