probably do have codes the abs light is a' check engine light'it carries codes most likely problem is an abs sensor failing /failed this also ties bin with your traction control system check hubs --sensors and wiring for failing or damage
PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONBefore diagnosing ABS/TCS, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of system as follows.Check ABS/TCS wiring harness connectors for looseness. Check harness routing; pay particular attention to wheel speed sensor wiring harness routing. Check fuses No. 1D, 5B and 6B in instrument panel fuse block. Check fuses No. 1 and 2 in underhood fuse block. Check brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir. Check brake fluid level in Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) assembly reservoir. Ensure parking brake is fully released. Ensure parking brake switch is functioning properly. Always perform ABS/TCS system functional check before using DIAGNOSTIC CODE CHARTSThe EBCM/EBTCM has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBCM/EBTCM can be displayed using Tech 1 scan tester. There are no provisions for flash code diagnostics.Begin ABS/TCS diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION procedure. If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs, and proceed with ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 .If no failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, go to ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 . The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK will either indicate ABS/TCS is functioning properly or direct technician to various diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic charts, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.CHART D - TRACTION OFF WARNING LIGHT ON CONTINUOUSLY & NO DTC SET (BUICK WITH UH8 OR U2A INSTRUMENT CLUSTER)Circuit DescriptionWhen ignition switch is first turned to RUN position, EBTCM goes through a self-test, which lasts 2-4 seconds. During self-test, EBTCM commands TRACTION OFF indicator warning light on. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can also command EBTCM to set a Code 75 which will illuminate TRACTION OFF indicator.Traction control switch is located either on instrument panel center trim plate or driver's front door trim panel. Switch allows driver to select traction control mode (on/off). When traction control system is turned off, TRACTION OFF warning light comes on.EBTCM monitors transaxle temperature through
Hello: If there is a problem in the ABS it will bring on the tcs light as well. To determine what is causing the problem you need to have the ABS checked with a scanner to get the code. Then trouble shoot the components that the code leads you to. Normal braking is available with the light on but TCS is not as it relies on ABS for functioning the TCS.
The TCS stands for Traction Control System, I believe. The TCS is controlled by inputs from the wheel speed sensors. If you have a bad sensor, then a new hub may be required to repair it.
The check engine light may be a sepawrate problem. Have the codes scanned for both the Anti lock braking sytem, TCS, and the check engine light.
Sometimes it will require a separate scanner for the TCS/ABS vs. the Check Engine light.
TCS And 4wd use the abs wheel sensors to engage and disengage so if there is a slight fault in the abs sensor system TCS will be disabled and the 4wd will either not engage or disengage depending on the drive position set at time of fault that is what the lights are telling you
Get the sensor system checked out from the abs rings on the axles to the sensors and wiring to the abs pump controller
check the abs sensors common to hit or damage the wiring or knock connection loose when doing a brake job the traction control system[tcs] is tied into the abs system
some markets have a button on the dash with tcs/abs and a dash light saying "tcs off".if your car has not got the button then you cant turn it off(germany yes.uk no)abs/tcs should only be turned off in deep snow, otherwise best left alone, unless you have been taught how to drive with/without.....(on ice you wants the wheels to turn,on snow you want the snow to wedge to slow you down......)see what i mean???
had my 2000 chev impala 3.8 liter ,traction control llight and abs light both go on the reset it and go right back on .so i replaced both sides of the bearing hub assembly this is connected the senser,so far so good.replaced it dec 21 2009 about 3 hours ago. because the assembly came appart when took off.
I have had my check engine light come on several times and my car is sluggish. I took it to dealership each time, first they said it was loose gas cap, once they suggested getting fuel injectors cleaned which I did, then they said that the oil intake was too much at one time causing the engine to miss. They eventually replaced the oil solenoid valve and my check engine light does not come on but the car still misses when I accelerate. My warranty is almost out and I am afraid it is going to be a huge expense for me in the future. Any suggestions on what I should do???
