1992 mazda 323 won't start was running fine then one day just died. checked compression and its fine. can't hear the fuel pump coming on so replaced still can't hear it. will crank but won't fire.
Put a small amount of fuel in the intake near the throttle plate then crank and see if it fires, if it does then it's a fuel problem, if it does not fire then pull a plug wire and put a philips head screw driver into the plug wire hold it 1/4 inch away from a good ground then have someone crank it over, you should see spark and it should be blue, if not then you have a ignition problem a bad coil or cam sensor but need to know what you found out on the two tests I told you first to give you a direction to go.
Ok if you are not sure about the fuel here is what you need to do find the fuel line and loosen it after loosening it turn the key switch on for two seconds, you will need help with this turn it off and do this several times till you see fuel coming out of the line that you loosened do not try starting just turn the key to the run position, if you still get no fuel then you have a fuel relay or fuse blown, After you have turned the car on and off a dozen times with the line loose there should not be any air in the system and you should get fuel coming out of the fuel line, if not then try cranking for 5 seconds at a time with throttle halfway down if you see fuel stop quickly hook up or tighten the hose dray off the fuel and then try starting it again if it runs you fixed the problem if not then go to the rear of the car and have someone else turn the key to the run position and listen to see if you hear the fuel pump in the tank if you do not then I would guess you have forgotten to hook up a wire or ground that means pulling the tank. At this point look for the fuel relay in the engine compartment try replacing it with a similar relay and try again, remember you have air in the system so if you replace the relay and you here the fuel pump then you need to loosen the line to be sure to not have a air lock. Not all cars do this but sometimes the fuel pumps can be hard to prime and if you don't have much fuel in the tank it makes it harder. Let me know if you have any success good luck!
Be very careful of starting fluid it's much hotter than gas and if you spray for more than a couple of seconds you could blow the head off the engine.
I suggest you go tohttp://www.alldatadiy.com and puchase the 1 year program on your car and check the fuel diagonostics system or fuel delivery, you have a bad sensor that will not allow the fuel pump run or you go a defective pump.
you may have jumped time did you try to set the timing up to see if the #1 plug was at top dead center and the crank was at zero? try that and see if the timing marks line up.

If you have spark and it is not starting or firing. Then it is a fuel problem. Try spraying starter fluid in the throttle body or remove a spark plug and put a small amount of fluid in. See if you are able to get the motor to fire.

I am getting spark
put fuel into the throttle plate and nothing, checked for spark and i'm getting spark.
Shouldn't it at least try to fire with some starting fluid? cause it doesn't. And I'm positive that i'm getting spark cause it shocked the **** out of me!
I checked the fuel pump cause I was hearing no noise coming from it, replaced fuel pump and still no noise coming from it. checked the connections at the fuel pump and it has correct voltage. checked relays and all checked out fine for continuity. checked spark and spark is fine. I did a diagnostic on the fuel pump by jumping the diagnostic connections under the hood for the fuel pump (F/N and ground) with key on fuel pump came on but it will not come on without doing this. no fuel to the fuel rails cause pump does not come on. tried starting fluid in the throttle body and nothing happened. I am out of ideas
Do you check to see if you are getting spark?
