I have fuel leaking from the top of the fuel pump (under rear seat). I bought a o ring from the nissan dealership and the one they gave me was very thin but I can't find where it goes? However the top of the pump I noticed has a big rubber seal, do I need that one so fuel could stop coming out of the top? Or do I replace the thinner o-ring towards the bottom of the fuel pump? Please help
Richard it may well be the oring pipe fitting that seals where the fuel lines attach to the fuel pipe on the outside of the tank that they have supplied to you ,In my experience most of the time the leak comes from the pump fitting itself where the fuel lines attach and often on the little nozzle where the pipes attach normally cracks on the plastic fitting itself which is part of the pump sender assembly ,Remove the inspection cover under seat dry up any visible fuel and then turn the ignition on and if u look carefully it normally dribbles out on crack in plastic fitting right where fuel lines attach GOOD LUCK
Testimonial: "It turns out it was the fuel pump itself, the top of the fuel pump (plastic). The top is all white so it was extremely hard to tell it was leaking from the top as gas is clear and it appeared to be coming straight through the white plastic. When i jacked up the rear of the car i noticed fuel on the fuel tank so when i took off the rear seat i could see the gas coming from the top (somewhere). i thought it was the hoses at first but then my dad noticed the top of the fuel pump itself had a yellowish color on the fuel pump. My dad also noticed it was cracked (very hard to see in two different spots on the top). So i replaced the entire fuel pump and presto! No more heavy fuel smell inside the Altima that was a mystery fuel leak, thank you everyone for your help."

If the fuel is leaking into the car you will need the replace the seal on the top on the pump assembly not the seals on the pump itself but before changing the seal just double check the fuel lines are tight and the leak is actually from the fuel splashing out of the tank. The seal your after is referred to as the pump assembly oring ( big rubber oring around the top of the assembly a smear of silcone can be used as a temporary fix but erge you to get it fix properly as soon as possible and fuel fumes in the cabin can be extremely deadly)
Hope this helps
SOURCE: Rear end seal leak
You must be refering to the side seals. common problem. the actual problem with those rear ends is the air breather, which cloggs up and that's when your seals blow out, because the pressure in the rear end has nowhere to go and so your seals get blown out. I just did a set on Monday. Anywho, you will need some specialty tools for this. You will need to remove both rear brake assemblys (rotors, calipers). Than look on the other side of the backing plate, there you will see 4 big nuts that hold the backing plate on the axle tube (rear end). Remove those 4 nuts and that's where specialty tools become usefull. You will need a slide hammer. You need to attach the slide hammer onto the axle right by the studs. Use factory whel nuts to attach. Remove axle out of the housing with few good slides of the slide hammer. Once the axle is out, you need to remove the snapp ring, then cut the colar off and remove colar, then remove the old bearing and thats where the seal is. Big help doing this job is a pneumatic air hammer, which helps you remove the stuff off the axle shaft and the slide hammer to remove the axles out. You will need 2 seals, 2 bearings and 2 collars. You may also need the plates with the studs, which had the big nuts, that you removed in first steps of this repair. Kind of a job for someone that has been working on cars and has the tools to do it. Good luck. Oh ya, change the breather and the fluid in the rear end.

replace the front oil seal. first i would clean the engine with purple power (degrease etc.) then look at the engine and make sure the leak is not coming from above like possibly the valve cover gasket or from the oil sending unit. try to tighten the bolts on the valve cover and even the oil pan. you never know, you may get lucky. i don't know where you are but front seals are cheap but the labor on the job is what costs you.
