The car totally cuts off after a few minutes driving and wont crank for several minutes. It turns over but is taking longer and longer to crank. ive had the fuel pump replaced but it still stalls out with same issue. having it diagnosed, i was told i needed an o2 sensor and a relay but after paying for a fuel pump, I cant really afford a process of elimination so which is responsible for this problem and where are the sensor and relay located?
A bad O2 sensor would not prevent it from starting. The computer ignores the O2 sensor until the engine warms up. If the fuel pressure is good, check the engine coolant temp sensor. If that's bad, the computer may think the engine is warmer/colder than it really is and will give the wrong air/fuel mixture.

Try your cam/crank position sensor. Normally if its not working properly the tach will not registor when cranking. You should get at least 100rpms while cranking!

I believe its the main relay u are looking for. This relay controls the fuel pump and spark. Its located under the steering column. Grey in color and usually has one bolt attaching it. Hope this helps.
