Try disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes. This may clear the security code and allow the normal key to operate. The sensor in your tire may have gotten damaged when it was repaired (this is not uncommon). The solution, take it to a tire store, they can change the sensor if needed.
The starting fluid things results are what is leading me here , I'm calling it an ignition problem (read:no spark). The issue you have had with the ignition module a couple a months ago leads me back there as well. When the module was replaced , was the white heat transfer grease spread liberally on the heat sync? Failure to do this will cause the module to overheat easily enough. The flashing lights now, That's a stumper. Is the emergency warning light switch turned on?
Same problem on 98 Jetta at about 9 yrs of age. Wiring harness was an expensive job. Dealer replaced all wires going to doors so that alarm isn't mistakenly triggered by opening doors. Dealer offered to remove alarm for a few hundred dollars, but couldn't assure us that the key fob would still open the door locks. Who wants to give up power locks? My hunch is that wire in driver's door breaks with flexing over 9 years. Could consider replacing short stretches of wire in hinge of drivers door if you're handy with a soldering iron.
