Need to know were the timming chain gear is located and how to line up dots to set timming

Need to know were the timming chain gear is located and how to line up the dots to set timming

Timing gears are not to be used to set engine timing. "timing" of the gears refers to keeping the crankshaft and camshaft in "phase" so valves open and close at the right time and do not crash into each other. Get yourself a basic manual like haynes or chilton It will help a lot with questions you have!!

How to set timming chain after replaceing timming chain tentioner?.

if you did not turn the engine over while you had the chain off the timing did not change. if you did there is a dot on the cam gear and the crank gear line them up and you'll be in time

Where us my 1996 chevy v6 C1500 pickup timing chain located. I need the area and schematics; as i dont know where to start /

the timing chain on the 4.3 is on the front of the engine. you will need to remove the water pump and the crank pulley to access the timing chain cover. You can see the cover if you look behind and above the crank pulley. the cover will be held on by about 15-20 bolts.

make sure you line up the timing mark on the cam gear with the timing mark on the crank gear. there will be a dot on each. when the are lined up the dot on the crank pulley will be at 12 oclock and the dot on the cam gear will be at six oclock.

you will need a puller to remove the crank pulley and the crank gear. Other than that its just nuts and bolts.

Have rebuilt motor new everything from mazda now i have pooo12 code retarded intake cam checked timing with sst and ex and in cam are in perfect alignment with sst the solniod tested out fine . the only...

remember 1 thing..dont confuse cam timing with ignition timing also if the belt or chain has alignment dots or marks on it ..it can be put on backwards and still line up marks correctly but but in a different position making the cam timming off i have done it and seen it done before like an old chevy when you put timming gear set on you line up the 2 dots alot of people think that is tdc and they set up ignition and go to start it and get pops and bangs well thats because the the install dots are actully 180 degrees out from tdc so you remove the distributor and turn it 180 deg. and now she starts right up i think you have 1 of these cams a tooth off or your using marks incorectly or belt or chain is backwards making dots align in different postion appearing correct

Need cam timing specs 22r toyota truck

there will be two highlighted or dotted chain links for the camshaft and one for the crankshaft gear, position cam dot/TDC indicator in the 12-O clock position, the two dotted links should be on ether side of cam dot, turn crank dot to the 6-O clock position and line up highlighted link with dot on crank gear, if timing cover is on, then make sure cylinder 1 is at TDC when the two links are at 12-O clock.

1993 Toyota Camry V6 Timing Settings

Get a T belt from toyota. It has 3 white lines on it and and arrow mark. 2 lines are solid and one is broken. Put the arrow facing away from the engine. The cam gears have a dot punched into them near a certain tooth. This is where the solid white lines will line up with. The crank gear will have a dot also. It will line up at 90 degrees from the top, towards the front of the car. This is where the broken line will match up with. With the belt installed with all lines on their proper dots and arrow away from the engine, you valve timming is correct.
Of course you need to remove and compress the tensioner also. I assume you know this already since you didn't ask.
