Cooling fan/ Radiator indicator

I have a 06 BMW 325i and since I bought it about 2 months ago, I noticed that the cooling fan would come on as soon as I start the car, but sounded really loud. It doesn't happen every time and I noticed only happening when the car would sit for a while and I get it started. Now, this morning I got the car started and the radiator sign showed as yellow. Please help!!!

I would recommend first to check the coolant level. If the coolant level is too low it can cause the fan to run if it detects too low of a coolant level. Also, the low warning can be a result of a low level. Make sure to check the level with the engine cold, and not running.

Hi Anonymous, can you get a radiator pressure test while engine running.

I Suspect exhaust from valves in engine building up pressure in cooling system. (blown head gasket or warped head)

OP is getting the engine pressure tested.

Good job!

Why is my 2001 bmw 325i still is overheating after i changed the water pump, thermostat and purge the system?

Well Michael put your hand on radiator upper hose and then the lower hose right after car warms up and just starts overheating is there a temperature difference if so one of two things is going on thermostat not opening even though it is new or there is still an air bubble in the cooling system if nthere is no difference and still overheating might have to explore headgasket being blown

When driving for at least 15min engine overheating indicator lights up not on red but yellow get back home takes about 1hr to cool down i do notice that the engine is very hot

How is the water flow, bet you that it is poor and this is normally caused by 2 things, thermostat siezed shut and the other is a faulty water pump, both are urgent matters

How to remove and replace cooling fan on 05 bmw 325i

The cooling fan is held onto the plastic shroud so to remove the fan you must first remove the shroud as the motor comes out from behind closest to the rad.this 05 model doesnt have a manual centrifugal type unlike the earlier models its not a difficult job but lots of bits and bobs to remove first though
