2006 gmc envoy loses power and stalls out

Engine light is on, brought it to an auto body shop, they cleaned the throttle body and replaced the battery. It was fine for a few days and then started stalling again. The engine just completely cuts off all power and the car stops running.

We also just replaced the spark plugs and O2 sensors. Does anyone know about the PCM? We've been told that may have to be replaced.

Also as a side note I meant to type auto repair shop, not auto body..

SOURCE: Code P0121 on 2006 GMC

Classic signs of idle air control not able to cope with sudden engine loads. Cleaning should resolve this. Remove ducting from air cleaner to throttle entrance. Spray with carb. choke cleaner or WD40 spray and wipe back to the alloy finish. clean the the throttle plate and push the throttle open with your fingers and clean in behind as best you can. Clean the passageways to the idle air control valve. Remove the valve and give it a thorough clean up. Reassemble and it should all be good.

SOURCE: Problems with stalling and high idle

I had problems with the idle and with the car stalling and found that it was a failed oxygen sensor. I replaced it and the car runs great now.

SOURCE: 2006 Envoy stalling when idels and won't stay running

Clean your Throttle body and pay attention to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve passageway to try to clean the IAC. A dirty or faulty IAC will cause your engine to stall at idle, the job of the IAC is to open the passage way through the throttle body to regulate the amount of air to enter the engine to keep it from stalling when the Envoy is at idle.

Start with the simple and clean the throttle body and inspect any loose or damaged wire leads to the throttle body. Replace or repair any signs of damage.

Thank you for using Fixya and good luck.

take your air snorkel tube off at throttle body and pull back out of way, then take a rag and soak with throttle body cleaner, carb cleaner, or brake clean...they all work well, then reach inside the housing and open throttle plate and start rubbing the gunk off inside the throat of throttle body and throttle blade till all is clean, will take several times to get all clean. when all done put snorkel back on BEFORE starting vechile or you will have a service eng. soon light.

2003 gmc envoy xl 4wd 5.3 litre idles low and stalls mainly when parking but sometimes also when coming to a stop...have replaced many parts already.

Hello: Get some carburetor cleaner, remove rubber tube going to the throttle body. Spray cleaner on rag and open throttle plate and clean all black stuff (carbon) off the throttle plate and the inner bore of the throttle plate. Make sure its clean, You can spray some in the throttle body but not very much as too much and you cab blow the engine up. If build up is bad (carbon) go to Auto Zone and purchase a small brass bristle brush to help remove carbon.

The reduced engine power light has been coming on in my 2003 Envoy

1st things first, clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner. Clean it with the battery disconnected. When finished, drive around for 5 or so miles to reset the computer. The butterfly in throttle body is probably sticking. The throttle body must be nice and shiny when finished.

My 2002 gmc envoy stalls when i turn on the ac

The throttle body needs cleaning, the butterfly and surrounding area has built up deposits that prevent the butterfly from closing all the way. Visit www.trailvoy.com and search for throttle body cleaning.

ERRACTIC RPM

Clean your throttle body. Once the battery is disconnected and the computer reset, it no longer increases power to make up for a dirty throttle body. Get a $4 can of carb cleaner. If you go to a mechani9c they will tell you that it is the ac compressor.
