It could still be a leaking windshield and running under the carpet. Or it could be a door gasket or one of the roof drains is plugged up. You may need a body shop to check it out.
Under the hood is a drain for the cowling under the wiper arms. There is a plastic tube that gets clogged and water can't drain from that area. It is against the firewall on the passenger side. I found mine full of pine needles
Have you cleaned out the drain tubes? There is a 'rain rail' underneath the rear lip, which diverts water off the top and down to tubes on each side. The tubes get clogged up with leaves and whatnot. You can use a coathanger to CAREFULLY clear the debris. Check out www.miata.net for more Miata information than you could imagine.
look at the firewall on the engine side and you will see a small stub hose coming out on passenger side about even with the bottom of the heater box inside. that hose drains condensation from the ac...clear it out and you will have a dry floor. (unless heater core is leaking but you didn't mention any overheat or coolant loss so likely that's not a problem)
Statistacally--most leaks come from sunroofs and yes they can be one side or the other. Happens from clogged drains. Sunroof drains run across the headliner and down the a-pillar. you can have them cleaned and checked. This is all assuming you have a sunroof. Hope I helped. Thanks.
absolutely can be the windshield. With an assistant sitting inside the car to examine the windshield edges as you slowly apply a slow soft stream of water on trhe windshield, going slowly starting at the top. If in the end , no leak is found, examine inner firewall going up under dash for water drippage. No guarrantee the leak is the windshield. Could be a side door or window leaking. Imagine if your carpet was soaked with engine coolant. Could be the heater core leaking into the inside of the car.
You have drain blockage in the condesor case itself. There is a small tube that will drain the condensor case, the big black plastic case that contains most of your a/c system inside the car. This case collects moisture and that must drain normally from the case drain to the outside of your car onto the ground.. If this drain is plugged, you will have leakage on to the floor. If the moisture is allowed to remain in the carpet, mildew will set in and then you will have to replace the carpet.

I am the original owner of camry xle 1998 with wet floors. In 2000 I had drivers side door seal leaking at welt. Removed old door seal and new weather strip on drivers side installed. The door panel was never wet, but wet at bottom of door where there are drain holes...slowly leaking under carpet.
In 2001 later water again. Coming from overflowing A/C evaporator-drain plugged/ tank full of debris. Removed evaporator, cleaned + drain cleaned.
In 2003, driver door seal against window rotted. Removed door panel and found leak at window belt molding at the mirror joint inside + out. Lots of mold under carpet needed to replace! Made a fuss at dealers for reacurring problem and they replaced the carpet for free.
not completely familiar with the vette but examine the power seat motor for leakage. it may be hydraulic.
