SOURCE: 1991 Chevy Lumina 3.1 Sedan Starting/Dying Problems

Ok this was all after the car was all warmed up how far can you go from a cold start until it "dies:?
I want to suspect a crank sensor or ignition module just because of the symptoms if nothing happens until the egine gets hot ,typical of a failing crank sensor andignition module, always replace them togother.
But there is one more culprit, the catalytic Converter, see they break up inside and over time the catalyist bounces around and becomes a ball, on acceleration the presssure of the exhaust pushes the "ball' of caytlist into the exhaust pipe opening restricting it until it shuts off the car. You pull over the pressure goes away the "ball" falls back into the cat, you start again and it starts all over again. I would hve the cat tested and you can do a test yourself hit the cat on the bottom with a hammer and if you hear some rattling inside when you hit it yhe catalist is broken and is likely your problem.

SOURCE: having problems with my 96 chevy tahoe mass air flow

The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor is a very common problem with these along with the pickups. This isn't what you would call an inexpensive part. Definitely do some shopping before you buy one.

SOURCE: Lumina Starting/Dying Problem

this could be one of the two things that I am thinking it is...it is either the throttle position sensor or it si the fuel pump getting too hot and cooling off slightly enough to restart the engine. Both are related but separate systems. The throttle position sensor is on the side of the throttle body and it merely tells the computer where the throttle plate is in the throttle body to create the proper fuel mixture for the injectors. The fule pump ios loccated insid eof the fuel tank it either runs or it doesnt usually. If it gets hot it is about to go completely out all together.

SOURCE: 1998 Chevy s10 4 cylinder running rough

1- check there is spark come from spark wires
2- check the fire timing by looking for every wire in the right place
3- check there is injector signl
4- check for any vacuom leak
5- try to clean the MAF by brake and parts cleaner
6- try to reset all the code and see what will come after that

SOURCE: 1992 Lumina Backfire - I

I know you mentioned the EGR valve has been replaced, but you may have a bad 'new' part. I know the car is electronic, but has anyone checked its ignition timing (timing belt been looked at, I know it only has 77k on it). Is the fuel pressure regulator OK and it vacumm supply?

Crank sensor or ignition module may have died . The fuel is not ignited and leaves a raw fuel smell . If it has a tachometer does it register while cranking it over ?

I used to own an '02 Tahoe.
Have you checked the oil? Is your dip stick bone dry? I've only had this happen to me on one vehicle in the past and the engine was out of oil and my engine had seized. Hopefully it isn't that.

Side note: Have you noticed that most Chevy Tahoes on the road look like they are winking at you? Seems like everyone ALWAYS had one fog/running light out under a headlight. I laugh when I see one coming my way.. I say, that's got to be a Chevy. Something is wrong with their electrical system to cause such a widespread failure.

96 Benz ran out of gas other day, got it filled up & drove home (20 miles). Next day drove about 40 miles, left car running in park for about 15 min, when I left car was stalling like it was running o

You never leave a car running, as it will
overheat the Exhaust Converter
When you run out of fuel, you sometimes
ruin the Fuel Pump
It depends on gas to lubricate it,as strange as it sounds
Check fuel pressure & volume at the motor with a gauge

Chevy 2001 Cavalier won't start

Trace the power source from fuse to relay etc and make sure pump is working. if all checks out then check pump working and for preasue at engine. you may have a dammaged fuel line from the tank which would also cause the same problem

Have a 2001 gmc jimmy...drove home gas gauge read 1/4 tank..next day cranked over but wont start..gas gauge reads empty...put $10.00 from spare gas can..cranked over but no start ..gas gauge still reads...

chevy and gmc trucks have an on going problem with this, turn the key on,and get a rubber mallot or a hammer and hit the bottom of the fuel tank a couple of times, this will unstick something in the fuel pump/sending unit.
