I have a 04 Expedition with the dummy battery light on, I have changed the alternator and battery, but light is still on. Would changing the belt help to turn the light off?
well thanks for the advice I will try both, 1st the belt has never been changed by me and I have put 50k on the truck, and when I tugged on it, it seemed like it was not tight, compared to my other truck. I'll also check the large connector.

Ok, I replaced the belt and the light is still on. Can I buy the large connector at the parts store? I'm also going to have the battery tested.Ok, I replaced the belt and the light is still on. Can I buy the large connector at the parts store? I'm also going to have the battery tested.
the belt tension is self adjusting so the other expert is wrong in his recommendation of tightening the belt.the belt tension is self adjusting so the other expert is wrong in his recommendation of tightening the belt.

Hi the air bag light can come on as a result of low voltage. Get it plugged into diagnostics that code should clear. Then test the charge rate it should be 13.5-14volts. Regards Jim...
Have someone check the charging system on the truck. The light comes on when the alternator is not charging the battery. Could be a wiring problem between the alternator and the battery.
if you have replaced alternator and battery and belts are tight .but light is still on then you can go to a parts place and they can double ck your alternator to see if it is putting out the correct amps ,and then if your prob is solved you can disconnect battery for 2 or 3 mins and should clear light on dash.if not then take it to someone with hand held computer to clear trouble code
Hi:
The battery light is telling you that you are running off the battery, and you have a problem with your charging system. An easy way to check your alternator is to get a volt meter, and measure the voltage of your fully charged battery. with your expedition not running, it should read about 12.6 volts. When you start your expedition, it should read approx 14 volts if your alternator is working properly.
Of course, check all of your connections first, and most auto parts stores will check your alternator out for free, so they might have a chance to sell you one!
The alternator change is not that difficult. I would take the vehicle to an autoparts store and have them test the alternator output. Check the battery cables and make sure they are clear of corrosion and are tight. A parts store can also test the condition of the battery. Most parts stores will check the alternator output and battery for free. If you visit the autozone.com website, you can also register your vehicle information and have access to an online repair manual that will show the procedures for changing the alternator if it is necessary. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.
i had a similar problem with my 2000 ford expedition. After 3 new alternators and a new battery i figured out it was a 20 amp alternator field fuse blown located in the under the hood fuse box. Good Luck!
bad battery with dead cell
dead cells wont be seen on battery test
or alternator not functioning properly
you left your lights on somewhere in vehicle or connected to this a defective door switch when doors closed leaves lights on
The large connector? where is the large connector?
but will it turn the light off? someone else said to change the large connector? not sure what he is talking about...
Ok I'll try that 1st.
Thanks
