If the fans didn't run any further the engine continues to warm and possible seizure will occur. This is also the reason you will probably go through batteries in the long run. Hopefully this helps the issue you are having.

I had the same thing happen to me...fans would run even when car turned off. Was the thermostat. Got one with high temp-92* I think, it did the trick!

2004 mazda mpv engine racing and cooling fan not working

coolant temp sensor tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is so it can regulate the idle and fuel mixture, when it fails there usually is no cooling fan and you will have trouble starting the engine and keeping it running.

My fan on my 2003 mazda mpv starts running as soon as i turn on the ignition. could this cause erractic codes

the temperature cooling sensor, The sensor's output is monitored by the engine computer to regulate various ignition, fuel and emission control functions, and to turn the radiator-cooling fan on and off as needed. check this first ! also check the fan relay in relay box. it may be sticking in the on position. hard to say without being there. but try the above things. good-day ! the fans come on if a/c is on.

My 2003 mazda mvp starts to overheat when in ideal or stopped traffic. What could some of promblem be? thank you PC

Hello PJ.

Usually when this happens the electric cooling fan on the radiator isn't coming on.
As you are moving air is going through the rad cooling it. When stopped or moving slowly there isn't enough airflow so the fan should come on.
Possible problems are a blown fuse, something jamming the fan blade, bad motor for the fan, bad wiring connections, bad relay or a sensor not detecting proper temperatures.
If the fuse is blown something caused it to do so, most likely a jammed fan or shorted out motor.
To begin, check the fuse, make sure the fan isn't jammed up with something, check wiring for shorts and bad connections.

There are the possible problems as you have asked.

Thank you for using FixYa.

My 2002 maza mpv fan constantly keeps running while it's cold outside and when the car is turned off is it a computer problem.

No, it's the fan module itself. They were recalled but not ALL of them. Mine did the same thing and yet it wasn't part of the recall, go figure. The problem is that if it runs all the time it will run down your battery. The other issue is that sometimes it won't run at all and can cause your engine to overheat. I had mine replaced, cost me a couple hundred bucks. Hopefully yours is under the recall. Check with your mazda dealer and don't let them feed you a line of ****. It's a known issue.

When I start my MPV, there is a rattling sound from behind the glove compartment box. I removed the box and there is a unit that seems to have a motor of some sort inside. WHat is that for. If I disconnect...

this is the interior fan motor and housing. The rattle may be a piece of debris in there(i.e. leaf or a piece of paper)or a thing in the electric motor called a brush.Run the fan at different speeds and if the sound gets quicker with the fan,its probably just a bit of debris. The other, the fan wont run as well and may may need replacing when it gives up and wont work

My 2005 mazda mpv's fan does not shut off after the ignition is turned off. I must turn the ignition back to the starting position and then off again or the fan will continue to run for several minutes...

I have a 2003 MPV with the same problem. There was a recall in 2004 to replace the fan controller module, which apparently would fail regularly. I had mine replaced under the recall although there were no symptoms at the time. Now it appear that the replacement has failed, but I've already used the recall and you can only do it once. Even though your warranty is up the recall still applies if your car is of the model that qualifies. Call your dealer, and he can tell you if you are eligible. It is almost certainly the problem. I don't care how you drive or what the temperature is, your fan shouldn't run immediately after starting or run for more than a couple of minutes after you shut it off.
