SOURCE: how to replace valve cover gasket on a 2002 stratus 3.0 liter engine

i don't know that vehicle very well... but there are usually bolts/screws that hold them in place. 4 to 6 of them per cover. sometimes the spark plug holes have giant nuts that hold the cover in place.

SOURCE: Saturn SC 98 valve cover torque specifications diagram

you can look up repair guides on autozones repair section, but when i replaced my valve cover on my 98 saturn sc2, I did a alternating star patern like on a tire, and I just tightened it down till I saw the seals from the spark plug wholes plump out just a lilte. I have no leaks and no problems. The torque speks in the book are in inch pounds not foot pounds. So I just did it on my own.

You need an aftermarket serviice manual from Haynes or Chilton. They will have that kind of info.
I know of no car (I don't know them all) where that is needed and depending on the cover material (sheet steel or cast), could lead to warping and new leaks. I always use a thin film of silicone whether it is specified or not and there are torque specs for ALL valve covers I have ever seen.

2007 Kia Spectra. What's the torque specs for the valve cover gasket.

The KIA shop manual (both my hard copy and kiatech) show the locations of the bolts on the "Cylinder Head Cover" --aka valve cover-- and they provide the torque at 35-52 lb-in (4-6Nm), but they don't specify a tightening order.

Normally crisscross middle to outside edges, hand tight, half torque and full torque. Better to do the job right, do it once, replace the gasket.

Valve cover gasket

valve cover gaskets are in expensive, like 20 bucks, a books that can tell you how to do it would be 25-50 and you will be able to use the book for other things.. there are usually a few long bolts going straight through your valve cover, jus take them off remove the old gasket and put new one in put them back in.. however tightening the valve cover bolts will be the only tricky part.. you may need a torque wrench and have to refer to the book to know exatly how tight they should be.. but as a rule of thumb 80-90 ft-lb of tork is usually used.. be careful when doing this cuz if you put the wrong torque on it will bend your valve covers or posibbly not seal correctly
