its has a hole through the fender for the mast to come through and a brace at the motor housing to attach to the inner fender support. a threaded antenna bezel is needed to mount the mast to the fender

this is always a pain but here is the way I try 1st, drop the release handle down and cut back the sheath (cable cover) over the inner wire cable, expose the cable and then get a good pair of vise grip type locking pliers and have some one push down on the hood over the latch area (this removes some of the tension on the latch release) while you pull the stub end of the cable, if this doesn't work then you can try going under the truck to latch, but on this model that would be very difficult.

Sounds like your serpentine belt is slipping try checking your belt tension with engine off if ok replace belt or purchse belt dressing spray at your local parts house.

Under the front there is a cover between the bumper and the radiator support cowl. You have to pry out the plastic plugs that hold it in, then you can actually reach the cable from the bottom. Grab the whole cable with a rag and give it a good yank. It should release with enough force. It won't be easy. Good luck.
