Replaced passenger door outside handle. Now won't open from inside.

Probably forget to reattach the inside door rod to the latch. Remove the latch and make sure the rod is secure in the latch and the clip is locked on

Back hatch wont open jeep cherokee 01

the switch in the back door will get seized with age. When this happens the latch assembly will stay stuck halfway open and closed allowing you to close the door. when the door locks the latch will jam. and now will not be able to open until the latch is freed up and unseized again. you will have to access the latch by going through the inside and popping the panel away from the door. then using a screw driver force the latch to the fully closed position. then unlock door and open. Lubricate the old latch till it moves freely. then it should work properly for you.. good luck

The front doors on my 1998 park avenue will not open from the out side. Something has come loose and I need a diagram to see what might be wrong.

the part that has come loose is most likely the door handle linkage. this linkage goes from the handle down to the door latch. if you remove the door panel you should be able to see the disconnected linkage. lots of time the little plastic clip that holds the linkage to the handle breaks AND sometimes the little arm on the end of the handle itself breaks. again, remove the panel and the problem should be very clear. when reinstalling the linkage make sure the travel is smooth to the latch ( a latch problem could have caused the disconnection or breakage,, and you might need to also replace the latch(?) ).
if you have any other questions about this problem please feel free to ask,, I will do my best to walk you through the steps.

ps, I am sorry, but I looked everywhere for a diagram of the linkages and was not able to find one on line,, but I know that if you go down to your local auto parts store and get a repair manual for your year and make car - there will be a diagram in there.

The message "right rear door ajar" comes on and

This is very common, the door ajar switch is no good . the switch is located inside the door and is part of the latch, but it can be replaced spreate, you will not have to replace the latch, on some models you would need to replace the latch inorder to replace switch, on this model i think you can buy the switch form dealer, you will need to remove the door panel and the latch to replace the switch, heres a diagram to help you locate the switch, hope this helps.

How does the door linkage work i.e a diagram

There are plastic connectors that attach to the rod and attach to the latch. The rod usually hooks into the inside latch, the rod may be held to the door by some clips. Then the rod connects to the latch with a plastic retainer clip.

Need detailed diagram of 1998 latch mechanism to remove connections from it

there is no diagram... the latch is also a non-servicable latch, so if your problems in the latch- it needs a latch. i would look more closely at the outside door handle itself as i have seen a few of them break on the E series vans.you may be able to get detailed instructions thru autozone.com or @ autozone. hope this helps and good luck

Power door lock system

Most likely issue is the driver's door latch. You will have to remove the door panel to confirm. After removing the door panel, remove the J12 connector from the latch and use an ohmmeter to see if the unlock switch inside the latch is closing when the latch is unlocked. The switch is between the pins on the J12 connector, which has the brown and black wires. See diagram at link below. http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/Wd/DownloadPdf?id=90399
