where did you get code? Whomever ran diagnostics should have known and told you. go online All North American vehicles use OBD 2 codes, they are free and easily found,

Have it scanned looking for diagnostic codes. Sounds like you could have a crankshaft or camshaft sensor problem, which will be a simple fix.

could be catalytic con. plug up.

run an obd test obd stands for on board diagnostics see what the codes are auto zone will do it for free

1039 = (4.6L engine) loss of road sensing data.

1039 = (4.9L) engine) SSS (speed sensitive suspension)signal loss.

The 1039 code requires extensive diagnostic testing.

I have been doing this work for 35 years and there is no certain cause for this no start problem, the 1st thing that needs to be done is to have the computer (called the PCM) tested for fault codes that will indicate what part of the electronic fuel and ignition system is malfunctioning, then tested are preformed to determine if the issue is a sensor or a connector or the computer causing the issue, the common area's are ignition problems, there are many component's in the electronic ignition system so the test is needed to ID which one may be at fault, the test connector is in front of the steering wheel and below the dash, u will need a shop to read the codes or buy a cheap code reader from kragen or a parts store like kragen

This is a normal condition I will explain why. Your vehicle has an ETC(Electronic throttle conrtol) which mean the is not a throttle cable. It is control by onboard computers in the vehicle. There is a delay sometimes because the ETC performs whats called a sweep test. turn the key to the on position for 2 seconds for it will then fire right up. If that is your only transportation you need to call other repair shops. Find out about towing fees and what diagnostic fees they have.

Before there were diagnostic scanners, there were Mechanics. Scanners come in all types and some will suggest possible solutions and others are tools which Mechanics use to find problems.

For instance, you are told you have fuel pressure. You are told they installed new spark-plugs. You were not told if the spark-plugs are getting electricity to fire. You were not told if the fuel injectors are getting electricity to allow gas to reach the cylinders. You can have fuel pressure but the fuel injectors must open to put gas into the engine.

A noid tester or plain testing light will show if the injectors are opening. A spray of starting fluid will also indicate if the engine is not getting fuel despite fuel pressure. It will try to run with starting fluid if it has spark.

When you find out whether it runs, if not, then check for spark if the starting fluid does not make a difference.

It is questionable whether new spark plugs were needed if installing them had no effect. Check other service places.

I had a similar problem and believe it or not it was the CAT. An easy way to test for this is to remove the O2 sensor right in front of the CAT. Once you removed it, plug it back in while unscrewed from the exhaust pipe and start up the truck. If it runs fine, the CAT is your problem. This is just a guess and it would be an easy and very cheap($0) test. You did not say if the truck was diesel or gas. Mine is gas that was exhibiting the same problem as yours...good luck!
