Replacing window regulator

You do not need a diagram for the cable. If the cable has come loose it is because the window regulator is broken. You need a window regulator.
It looks like the picture below.

I just purchased the window at a scrapyard for 86.00 ... upon trying to install I found my window regulator had broken also! This is the peice that holds ur window to the electric motor to roll up and down. The regulators come with the whole motor assembly and aren't sold seperately... costing me another 107.00 plus tax .

The regulator is what rolls the window up and down. Often the plastic clips, on the regulator, that hold the window, may have broken. Those can be replaced without removing the regulator. If you need to remove the regulator, you will have to drill out the factory rivets. Note that the size of the rivet and rivet tool that is required to replace the regulator is not something available from an auto parts or hardware store.
Remove the inner door panel to see what is wrong before trying to remove the regulator.

.leave window up half way.tape window to hold it.remove door panel clips.rip out foam moudling.drill out rivets holding regulator.remove connector.remove regulator clips.remove regulator.put in new regulator and clips.put in new rivets.plug connector.test it.if all is good install moulding and door panel.

You need to replace the regulator as an assembly. No diagram needed. Regulator bolts to door and window, motor bolts to regulator.

get a complete regulator from vw or check fcp groton .com i am a vw tech you will be there forever if you try the cable you will never get it wound around regulator leaving you with a window that doesnt work

the guides that hold the window in the track are probably broken. easiest to take it to an auto glazier and have it checked, unless you feel like pulling the door panel off and replacing the guides yourself.

The only way the parts are available is to buy the window regulator assembly.
