S430 2002 is making noise when steer left or right, but goes away what could it be?

If its a groaning noise and its worse when cold it might be the power steering fluid is low, as the vehicle warms up the level rises and the pump stops sucking air, check the power steering fluid first

2003 accord V6 power steering noise when cold, stops when warmed up?

Try to get a power steering fluid flush, there may be contaminants in the fluid
Make sure someone has not put the wrong fluid in the vehicle.
If the problem started after the fluid had been low there may be damage to the pump

Today I started my car and my power steering pump was screaming. Warmed up and is fine. First time its done that. I dunno if temperature is to blame (20 degrees in Cleveland, Oh)? I changed changed some...

If the fluid is full than the sound is normal for GM when it is cold. You can try flushing the power steering system and adding an ounce of "Seafoam Motor Tune" to the power steering system after the flush is complete.

This may help with the noise.

Replacing the pump in an attempt to resolve the noise may make the condition worse. Aftermarket pumps are notorious for making more noise than the original pump. A new O.E. pump may be fine until it gets cold and then it may make the same noise.

I have just purchased a 2004xt Forester when i first start ( cold start ) it will make a noise like a grinding / gear drive noise for a couple of mins..the noise does fade as the car warms , but is still...

Could be several souces:
1. Check the alternator and AC belt idler bearings. Replace as needed.
2. Check the alternator itself for noise and bearing wear. Replace the belt if needed.
3. If very cold (below 0C) the power steering pump make a lot of noise for a while (30s to 2 mins) till it all warms up.

4. If the above are OK, then the next is the timing belt idler bearings.

2006 Town and Country: Loud Whinning noise when cold and a slow Power steering fluid leak.

the noise may be because your power steering fluid level is low when cold, as the fluid warms up it expands enough to stop the whine, you should have the leak checked by your favorite mechanic shop

Loud whirring noise at start-up

The first thing to check would be to make sure the power steering reservoir is not running near empty, locate the filler cap for the power steering pump it should be marked and then add the appropriate amount making sure you don't over fill, that may make the sound go away if not we must move on to the next possibility, by the way if the noise gets louder when you turn the steering wheel it is most likely the power steering pump or fluid level is low.

1995 Olds Achieva S Grinding upon starting

They make that kind of noise if its low on fluid, and also depending on how cold it is they will make a lot of noise because the colder it is the thicker the oil is and the harder it is to pump. I am not there to hear the starter, If the starter is making noise it will only be audiable while your on start, i dought starter will make that noise while its running unless the drive is sticking . Have both the pump and starter chk.out.

Steering Wheel noise on cold start

this is either a loose belt, or low power steering fluid. Remember that Honda uses a diffrent power steering fluid from everyone else. Make sure it is a Honda compatable fluid, or you will get leaks.
