SOURCE: need to locate toyota aurion/camry iac valve

the MAF sensor is between the air filter and throttle body. the idle controll is at the throttle body.  Its located on the throttle body on the left side. Follow the air intake to an intake manifold which sits on top of the throttle body.

SOURCE: 1998 camry 5sfe engine, surging at idle

Check for air leaks in the vacuum pipes in and around the inlet manifold, they have a habit if going brittle and splitting.
Another possibility is the temp sender , if the ecu thinks the engine is too cold it will compensate causing the engine to " hunt". This can be something as simple as a worn radiator cap seal letting air into the cooling system and tricking the sensor.
Hope this helps, Marshall

SOURCE: Idle Rpm Too High.

A high idle is caused by either a massive vacuum leak or a sticking idle speed control valve. I would think you have a vacuum leak, use a can of carb spray and shot around the top[ of the engine, if you hit a leak the engine will sound different, repair as needed.

Have you checked for a broken valve spring. Repaired a dodge engine with the same running issue as you have described and it was a broken intake valve spring.

Why my 1987 nissan stanza idles high in park?

Take the idle air control valve off and clean the carbon out of it with a non-chlronated brake ceaner then let dry 10 minutes and re-install.Reset the computer afterwards by disconnecting the ground cable on the battery for 30 seconds then re-install.

2004 Dodge Durango. when started it idles high to 2000 RPMS then when on the road it stays at an rpm, you dont have to push the pedal it just goes by itself.

It sounds like the Idle Air Control Valve is stuck. This will give you a fixed idle it can stick at high idle or low or anywhere in between. If you take off the air cleaner you see where the air is getting sucked into a small slot or hole. spray some carb and choke cleaner in there let it sit for about 5 minutes then start the engine. spray a little at a time with the engine running till the idle comes down by itself. This should take about 2-3 minutes. If it wont come back on its own take the 2 torx screws out and remove it clean with carb and choke cleaner and replace. If it still fails it will need to be replaced. MOST of the time cleaning it will work

My car engine idles high then jumps into gear from park to drive whats the problem

most likely the idle air control motor needs removed and cleaned , also clean where it mounts. you can use carb, cleaner to clean valve. but do not push on needle valve on end, cause it is preset for correct idle. an old toothbrush or similar will work to clean the valve. do not put valve body in any liquid to clean. it should run between 650 and 700 rpms in drive.

Engine stalls when put into gear , rpm goes up and down sometimes 450rpm and other times 750rpm. if it doesn't stall it runs fine.

sounds like the idle air control is either clogged with carbon or it is bad. take iac off and clean out the passage way to engine. do not put valve in any liquid, only the end of valve can be cleaned were valve is. do not push on valve while cleaning or the adjustment will be messed up.depending on the size of engine it should idle at about 650 to 700 rpms.I have a 3.1 and it idles at 650 rpms,

With clutch pushed-in, RPMs start to go up to around 2000-2500

if it isnt the iac probably the pcv valve positive crankcase vent. it is on a vacuum line somewere under hood. or check the air cleaner, the hose with the small filter underneath the air filter. i take its fuel injected?

My 1998 Olds 88 has been stalling and running rough.

Check and clean the IAC valve. Idle Control Valve. Use brake cleaner or carburater cleaner . Remove the duct work from the air filter assembly. It is located just inside . Run the engine at 1200 rpms and spray the valve. The valve can also be removed and cleaned.
