Automatic transmission adjustment

I'm considering buying a 1985 Holden (Isuzu) RB Gemini. I've been told the auto needs the bands adjusted. It apparently changes gears at the wrong speed.....? (sorry, that's all the info I've been given) Does anyone have any ideas and approximate cost?  Thanks in advance

It could easily be much more than tightening the bands. The transmission may have to be rebuilt. Tell the seller to go ahead and have the bands tightened and show you the bill, and that you will pay it if it is only tightening bands. Bet he will not do that.

Holden jackaroo petrol 2000 model 3.5 auto

Not until you have done all the necessary checks. Check that the oil is bright cherry red and not tan. Have a pressure test done on the transmission to check for internal faults. Have the fault codes read to check for transmission faults (TCM ) check oil level. Remove the pan and clean out the filter./ If there is band and clutch pack linings in the filter then you may have to have the box overhauled.. If not adjust the bands and clutch packs . After all the checks are done then and only then should you consider a replacement transmission and only from accredited transmission shops

Truck won't move in drive, when it does it drives slow and has a whining sound. Whines in reverse when you back up. Feels sluggish and doesn't have much acceleration. Also the RPMs fluctuate in cruise...

Try changing the automatic transmission fluid and the transmission filter. There are also bands on the transmission that can be adjusted. You will need to buy the service manual at your local auto parts store to get the exact specifications for adjusting the bands.

How to adjust bands on 95 isuzu rodeo?

There are now bands in a modern automatic transmission, there are clutch packs and these are eleectrohydraulically controlled. If it is slipping it will either be the converter or the clutch but either way it require a transmission specialist to repair... Sorry!

How do I remove the starter motor in my 1986 holden gemini RB. can only find one bolt

The other bolt is straight across from the one you pulled out you will need a 6 inch 3/8 drive extension and a wobble socket or a 3/8's swivel to get it out with. be sure to disconnect the positive battery cable at the battery before removing or trying to remove the opposite bolt or it will short and could cause the battery to explode. Rate if this was helpful. here is a picture of the starter so you can see it this is advance auto. 5841283_wrw_16884_thmb.jpg Worldwide Starter Part No. 16884
