Traction control night and brake light on 2008 trailblazer

It was snowing last night so I switched the truck to "auto" on the 4 wheel selector. Ran good. This morning I saw both the traction control light AND the Hand brake lights come on and the chimes. They were blinking and then stayed solid. The car appears to run fine. Any idea what it can be?

First, check to see if your ABS and your TCS fuses are good. A lot of times, if both lights come on, it senses a failure in the braking system. Your vehicle will disable the abs if it finds a problem in the braking system, hence the red brake light/hand brake light coming on in the dash. Get a code scanner that also reads the abs module. You could have a bad wheel sensor, which is tied to your TCS and your ABS system. Either that, or you ABS module could be bad.

SOURCE: 1992 VW Polo 1.3L Coupe: warning light mystery

Polo Coupe 1043,1992, Will not start, can be bumped started, sometimes!!, theres a strange clicking noise from under the air box, when the ignition is on and sometimes the oil pressure light comes on when the car gets upto temperature, then I lose all power and then the engine cuts out. I've recently changed the dizzy cap, rotor arm and battery, all the leads are new ish along with the spark plugs. The previous owner has changed the head and done all that, leaving much of the engine loom unlagged and bare. Could this cause a problem on some of the electrical systems?

The computer detected a fault. You SHOULD NOT drive it around with that blinking, or you will regret it. Take it to the dealership immediately and have them pull the code.

SOURCE: 2008 wrangler. abs, esp and

Check first the third eye brake light. does it work? okay the problem reside in a ABS sensor make sure it is hook up or if you recently did a brake job it didnt get contaminated. When the ABS signal is interfered with ESP,Traction is disabled. One or some of the wheel speed sensor is disconnected or is being interfered with. This is common for a recent brake job if any occured

Abslight stays on. How to fix? This is a2007trailblazer?

First you need to have EBCM - electronic brake control module check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If the light is on there is a code stored . I think most part stores can do this and for free . After you find out what code is stored , looking up that code in service repair information for diagnostic trouble shooting chart would be next step . There are a few codes too.
DTC C0035 or C0040
DTC C0045 or C0050
DTC C0110
DTC C0131
DTC C0161
DTC C0186
DTC C0196
DTC C0201
DTC C0240
DTC C0241 or P0856
DTC C0244 or P1689
DTC C0245
DTC C0283
DTC C0287
DTC C0290 or C0292
DTC C0455
DTC C0550
DTC C0558

Find the code do the diagnostic's , fix the problem , wiring issue's , a sensor , bad module ,what ever it is . The light will go out then . Here is a sample of code discription .
• DTC C0035 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
• DTC C0040 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit

Gear shift Selector stuck

These were known for having faulty brake light switche that would cause that problem as well as cruise control inop. I would check that first. It operates the shift-lock solenoid which releases the shifter. There were also some problems with the ignition switches, but mostly on the gm cars.

Noise from rear of when in auto 4 wheel drive

First of all, the noise is not coming from the rear. The noise is only happening in 4WD mode, that involves the transfer case and front differential.
When was the last time the transfer case fluid change, it is recommended that it be changed every 50K miles. It is possible that you have transfer case issues. It is not recommended to operate the drive system in Auto mode constantly, this will wear out the internal clutches.
If the road surface does not warrant 4 wheel drive, keep the selector in 2WD.

My traction control light and anti lock light popped on today and now the brake light popped on. i read the manual and it says to switch the traction control button back to on but i can't find it

I think your traction control button is on the center console behind the Shifter.
But, I don't think that is the problem. That switch will cause the traction control and light to turn on and off. It should not affect the brake light and anti-lock light.

I would first check your brake fluid level. Top it off with the correct fluid. The fluid is a DOT number; like DOT3 or DOT5. Use the correct DOT fluid.
If the fluid is very low, you may need your brake fluid system bled to remove any air. And you may want to check the brake pads. Low fluid may mean you need new pads.

If that doesn't work, go to an auto parts store that will scan your car for ODB2 error codes. AutoZone will do it for free. I suspect you may have a bad wheel bearing. That will cause the ABS and Trac lights to go on. I've replaced GM bearing/sensors on several of my cars. The last one was my 2005 Bonneville. The bearing and sensor are combined in one unit.

ON THE 2008 FORD ESCAPE, WHEN THE ROADS ARE COVERED IN SNOW AND ICY, SHOULD THE TRACTION BUTTON BE PUSHED IN SO THAT THE DASH LIGHTS UP WITH "TRACTION". THIS BUTTON IS ALWAYS OFF, WHEN SHOULD IT...

This button turns the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) function on and off. When the "TRACTION" light is on, the AWD function is on -- AWD should be on in snow / ice.

How do you work the 4 wheel drive system in the snow do I need to switch anything? i have a 2008 Saturn Vue Xe

IT'S AUTOMATIC! If there is a "TCS" or "Traction Control" button/switch, then leave that engaged at virtually all times. That year of the Saturn Vue did not come with 4WD (4x4); it offered AWD (all-wheel drive) which automatically supplements its traction control system (which was standard on all trims of that model in that year). AWD tranfers up to 50% of the power to the rear wheels when it detects wheel slippage. One up side (or pro) to having AWD is that you can use it on pavement. 4WD is generally too aggressive for that.

What is the function of ECT in Toyota hi ace 2L turbo diesel?

E electronically C controlled T transmision
  • Sometimes it has two sometimes three settings....
  • Power which holds the gears longer before change up....
  • Economy....gears change normally....
  • Snow....traction control...This last mode uses the ABS
  • A anti lock B brake S system
  • The ABS system automatically monitors the rotational speed of each wheel, and when brakes are applied, releases any brake about to lock up, independent of the others.
  • This is done because when wheels lock and skid, traction and control is lost....
  • Traction control brakes any wheel which begins to lose traction under power, spinning too fast and thereby also loosing traction if it was not controlled...
Hope this answers your question
It can be a slippery subject but we can slide across it....In a controlled way naturally

Traction system light and abs light

Traction control systems measure wheel speed differences by various methods to determine if one wheel is rotating faster than the other. A heavier buildup of ice/snow could be affecting wheel rotation speed causing the TCS to engage. ABS works by sensing slippage at the wheels during braking, and continually adjusting braking pressure to ensure maximum contact between the tires and the road. Suggest clearing out the wheel wells now and periodically throughout the winter. Also remove ice/snow build up between the wheel and the brake pads/rotor.
