1998 ford explorer 4.0, 4wd, goes good forward ,no reverse

Hi,

It could be for a few reasons but a problem with the transfer case causing loss of reverse is quite common on these vehicles. It is an early symptom of a problem which is only going to get worse unfortunately.
To get it working for now try shifting in & out of 4WD high & low a few times, trying to reverse each time. Hopefully this will enable reverse to engage again (make sure you are driving on an unsealed surface if you are turning while using 4WD low.)
If the problem is what I suspect it is you will have to either rebuild your tranny or swap it out for a good one. If you are lucky you will be able to pick one up for about $150 from a vehicle being wrecked.
Normally the gearbox is still good unless this problem has been left untended for a long time.

I have an 89 ford f-150 cranks wont start got fire, timing is right, fuel pump is pumping

Hi,
Since you're sure that you are getting gas and fire and timing is right... (also check firing order), has anything been done recently that could help you locate the problem? Such as removed distributor (could be 180 degrees out)? New plug wires (maybe crossed)?
All else I could recommend is checking cylinder compression (In case the valves are the problem)... The engine timing chain could need replacing...
Hope this helps... Good luck!

1998 Ford Explorer blinker problems

you need to go back over all the bulbs. Take each one out and put it back in making sure its working properly. Most likely a bulb is not grounding. I had this on a f-150 that took two days to track down. Good luck

1993 Ford E150 Mark III

hello
i have a 1992 and im sure this would be the same
To remove the spare tire:
1. Open both of the rear doors. Remove the
access cover from the rubber strip found
behind the left door. Insert tapered end of
lug wrench or tip of jack handle through the
access hole. Turn counterclockwise until the
cable extends enough to allow the spare tire
to be pulled rearward from under the
vehicle.
2. Slide the spare tire to the rear and remove
the retainer from the wheel.
3. To stow the cable/retainer with spare
removed, turn jack handle wrench clockwise
until slack is removed.

dont be afraid to crank on it real hard sometimes they stick.
good luck paul
